wanted: live sand to help start tank

I am going to start my first salt tank this weekend and was wondering if anyone is willing to donate me some live sand to help seed the rest of the sand and speed up my tank cycling .

sure thing you can have some. if any one knows how much we need please suggest

I don’t think it takes much… as little as a 1/2 cup, but the more the marrier, especially from diff systems to get a good mix of bacteria and pods…

Thanks guys.

Yeah I was hoping to get a little from as many systems I could for the diversity. I am shooting for maybe 3-4lbs total but will take what I can get ±. And I live in Smyrna im pretty sure dunk does too.

let’s get together somewhere this weekend. i have a cup u cn have too,

also have some starter corals for you too

thanks guys. i am going to that pet place Saturday morning to get the last bit of stuff i need and other than that i can meet you whenever and wherever is most convenient for you since you’re being so kind. dunk, i though i needed to wait for the tank to cycle before i could put corals in or are you talking about for the future

oh i have many if it dies ill give you more lol just use it as a test subject lol

lol thanks. it must be one of your kenya trees

you don’t want to kill corals in your tank when it goes through a cycling. and many beginner corals are way too invasive. be careful in what you begin with.

It is Kenya tree which are easily removed. But you won’t have any problems with it. Up to you if you want some immediate life. Wouldn’t get fish or any inverts for a while though. Kenya trees are hardy. But easily controlled now gsp that’s a diff store while they look great. They are very hard to remove. You have to take precautions to keep it on the rock it’s on and not let it spread to another

tim, ive had the same huge gsp in both tanks for over 18 months. not one piece elsewhere. i had a piece of KT, and within a month i had 3. got ridda that fast! plus most gsp looks better than most KT

true i agree both can be a pain i have a harder time with gsp

bsnow, I also have some very easy to keep monti to give away. Just let me know when your tank done cycling and ready for hard corals. Or anyone else looking for free monti frags. LMK
