Ultimately I think it comes down to what you want to keep. If you want to have a full blown SPS reef, then go for the best lighting you can afford. Otherwise, I think any T5 setup will be fine for any softies, LPS etc and even some of the easier SPS (monti etc). I have a tek 6 bulb setup over my 120 and I plan on only keep LPS and softies. I may try some monti’s towards the top, I don’t think I will have a problem with that. My cube which is 24" tall is a full blown softie/LPS reef with only a 96w PC fixture over it. It really all boils down to what you intend to keep. IMO the money can be spent elswhere on better filtration/flow or my favorite…livestock >LOL<
Well I’ve just picked up a 75 gallon tank from some fella with a bar in his basement :BEER (a1amap) so maybe I’ll just put the 4 T5s in the 55 gallon and do a T5/VHO setup for the 75…
I agree… most of the problem is probably lack of content. I will help with that when I can, but this month is pretty busy and next month is hunting season, so sometime in early Jan I should have an article or two for the web site.
Wow, how many times did I offer to do this? And no one seemed to want to do anything…?

Wow - how long have we been waiting for a higher resolution image of the logo?
Play nice.

4/11/08 … in case that was not a rhetorical question
Not that I want to put salt in any wounds but to use the image on anything we would need a higher resolution image.
Time is precious as you will find out shortly enough. http://delreefclub.org/home/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=28&topic=492.0 congratulations
Here’s a decent light for a reasonable price - fairly local
http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1489703
I would just make a simple reflector if you want one for a VHO lamp. I have made rough reflectors for my home made VHO strip lights out of alluminum flashing. Both bare alluminum or the white painted stuff. works pretty good. you can bend it like on a brake with just a sharp edge board and a rubber mallet. 3 bends centered on the strip will get you a pretty good parabolic shape. then screw it to the hood between the end caps . I used FULHAM WORKHORSE 7 ballasts for the single lamp strip lights. made the box by tacking and glueing 3 Luan strips to trapezoidal cut 1 by 6s for the light box ends.
the WH7 ballast will run a single VHO up to 96 inches. so us old DIYers used to jumper two 4 foot lamps in series to trick it since the ballast only has leads for one lamp. it works but burns the bulbs hot that way. the HELLOLIGHTS ARO VHO ballast and 2 lamp kit is much better. I switched to them a while ago for my VHO. two lamps are better than one. nice small cool running ballasts for the price.
I had Premium order me 4 SLR reflectors a while ago for a future T5 upgrade. a comparable price and no shipping charge. I like to buy local if i can.
I can help with the website after I am done moving(end of the month), but I need a specific task. It looks like some of the things you were hoping to get done have gotten done and you have volenteers to work on the back end. Is content at the top of the list? Or do you want me to lay out a page for the Reefer of the month or whatever name was decided on. Should I meet up with Logansdaddy and work on that? Let me know.

btw … :Welcome) to the site
from a website aspect i can see the CSS, but the forum isnt really flexible…it looks like its still from the 90’s…IMO…
what more do you need from a forum?
i dont think this forum lacks anything. it pretty much looks and feels the same as 99% of all the forums out there IMO.
