is it possible we can have like a sat or sunday either after noon or night meetings i really wanna attend but i cant tell my 6month old he cant eat because daddy need to take off to go to a reef club meeting
We discussed this doing this several times in the past and the club by majority has voted for meetings on weeknights repeatedly. If we have a great deal of new members in the fall we may relook at this, but currently the regular meetings have already been scheduled through this summer. However……
While the regular meetings will be the third Monday every month we are trying to line up some extra activities such as tank tours at peoples homes which could potentially(and most likely will be) held on the weekends. We are also working on the possibility of fragging demos at some of the LFS in the area which will be in addition to the regular meetings, but I have no clue at this point when they will be.
We will also be bringing in a speaker on a Sunday night. The details of this should be posted shortly.
Keep tuned to the site and we’ll keep you guys posted as soon as things are set. Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes the last couple of months. There will be a lot to look forward to this year.

This is one of the reasons im not a member. A few years ago there was a vote on-line on RC and it was a landslide for a weekend meeting but all of the sudden the vote didnt count and it was retaken on a monday night at a meeting and guess what the outcome was.

Good point. I’d be better on a weekend as well. I am a current/active member, but I usually make about one meeting per year.

Actually, the most recent vote was conducted on here. There’s good arguments to be made for practically any day of the week, depending on a given person’s circumstances. There is no perfect day of the week. As the saying goes - “You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.”
As Jon mentioned, current plans are to have regular meetings on whatever night won-out in that poll, with “special” meetings planned on other days of the week. That was similarly done, as well, during 2008 - three weekend meetings I believe (tank tour/fraggin demo/DIY rock). Interestingly, there was not any noticeable increase (to me) in attendance on the two weekend meetings I attended.
All I can say,Chris, is the current administration is trying to accommodate.

By all means speak up and volunteer. This is your club. As officers we serve at your pleasure. We had an online vote that was left up for several weeks. Overall results indicated that Mondays would be the MOST convenient, that’s not to say that Monday is most convenient for EVERYONE, just the majority that voted.
This is why we discussed having “special” events periodically throughout the year to take place on Saturdays. So we can accommodate those that are unable to attend on Monday nights. If we can get 12 people to volunteer their homes and their tanks to hold a tank tour once a month GREAT, if we can only get 6 to do so then the Saturday get-togethers can only be every other month, 4 volunteers = quarterly…and so on.
We try to accommodate everyone as much as possible, a group of people wanted meetings further south, many of same people wanted meetings on Saturdays. Icy was kind enough to offer to host the southern Saturday meeting, bought snacks, drinks, and Keleigh made the world’s most awesome brownies. End result?
1 additional person from Dover showed up and many that would normally make a Monday night meeting didn’t.
Further end result? I ate waaayyyy too many brownies.
So please understand we do try. if you would like to host a Saturday meeting, please let us know when would be convenient for you and we will schedule a group trip to see your tank.
Chris_Barb - please let us know when would be good for you. I have heard many many wonderful things about your knowledge, tank, and clams and would love to be able to see it all first hand.
Why don’t we alternate between weekend/weekdays? Everyone wins. If someone cant make it because of it being a weekday/weekend, they can catch the following months meeting. I’d rather see different people half the time than the half the people all the time.

The only problem with that is half the people would see the other half none of the time. I would imagine that only the smallest percent of the club could make regular weekend and weekday meetings. I for one could never make a weekend meeting. Heck, i have to take 2 hours sick time just to make monday meetings! I vote for tuesdays at 12p!!!
If we have events on weekends and regular meetings on weeknights then there will be something for everyone to attend. We’ll possibly. Some people might be free Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, but not on Monday and Saturday, so perhaps we could have an event every single day of the year…… you might see a different group of people every day, but most days you won’t see anyone.
For those new to the club or who are not as active please don’t read a lot of hostility with anything any of the officers have, are, or will right on this topic. We have debated the topic openly with the entire group, between each other, on the boards, at meetings, over the phone, over and over again. As it was said before we left a thread up on the boards for more then a month asking people to vote for the best times and the weekends had the least number of votes.(This board was up 7 days a week as well incase some people were only able to visit the boards for five minutes once a month, if the site was down during those five minutes and they couldn’t add their vote I don’t know how they remain in this hobby with such a busy schedule.)
I talked with two guys at work today who have yet to make a reef club meeting. They’ve known about the club for a while and have been on this board before. I said they should try to make it this month and they asked when it was. I said it was the third Monday at the high school. Them, “Is it every third Monday?â€ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ. Me, “Yup every third Monday at William Penn at 7pm.†Them, “Alright cool we’ll make it one of these daysâ€ÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ.
There is a lot to be said for having a strict schedule the same place every month and the officers, moderators, and active members decided that it was important after much debate. There will be trips, speakers, demos, and tours on different days of the week in addition to the regular meetings, so no one is left out.
You know what Tuesdays at 12pm works for me to! Perhaps we should start a new thread to change the time. 
How about 12am? I’m usually less busy then and everyone seems to be awake at those times.

I don’t think anyone tought that. I wasn’t calling you out in my previous post (althoguh re-reading it I could see how it could have been taken wrong), i was sincere. I have heard about you time and time again but have never had the opportunity to meet you and would love to see your system as well.
