much prettier in person
Looks great Paul!!!
thanks, bill. when does yr clam arrive?
Probably not till after Christmas. Too much going on right now cause I don’t think I’m gonna have him ship it may go pic it up or hopefully meet him half way. He said was no hurry , he was ok till the end of January so not sure but one that big little scared of having it shipped.
Wow that looks awsome Paul! Very jealous.
thanx jon, he swells up about 3 inches larger, loses some color, then shrinks down. very interesting creature. hope to have him a long time.
Cool. Very hungry animals supposedly. I have never kept one, but have always wanted to set up a lagoonal type tank which would include them sea grasses and perhaps some Fungia plates. Fungia typically do wicked battle and typically win I have always wondered if these to would fight. Suppose when I have clones of both I’ll have to try.
Still jealous.
always wanted a nice fungia, but the really colorful ones are way beyond what i’d pay. a link to a $5000 one, scroll down a bit

WOW DROOL! I LOVE Fungia plates. Probably one of my top 3 favorite corals for sure is my orange one. They had several around $300-$400 at MACNA and I almost bought a $100 one. Someone picked it up before me though.
Thanks a lot of posting that link Paul. I have hunted for more images of an orange and purple plate like one of the ones pictured below. Before that image the only time I had seen them was on the cover of Calfo’s book. I have always wanted to give a presentation on plates to the club and talk a little bit about these interesting critters.
You can find Neon Green and Orange ones typically for less then $70 locally. Just be warned, everything I read says they will win almost any battle and since they have the ability to move around the tank(and in my experience likely will move around the tank)… I currently have 3 in my main tank plus another 2-3 in QT.
yeah, jon, yours and fishbowl’s were the first real nice ones i ever saw. but if they really do move, isn’t it only on the bottom, not like nems? i like the ones with color and short pointed tentacles.
wellsophyllia or trachyphyllia?? or arent they the same coral, just a different locality?
wow those are the first fungias i have ever liked. the one on the first pic that u can only see 1/4 of is the best imho
acc to everybody who knows its wellsophyllia

at the asking price, buy me one also. don’t care which.
i remember reading somewhere, i believe in calfos prop book, about wellsophyillia and trachyphylia debate. i believe the conclusion was that wellsophyllia radiata is just a geographical variation of trachyphyllia geoferyi
jon should know
