just for reference, how exactly does a water bottle trap work? do you put anything in there besides the bait to prevent them from getting back out?
You cut the top of the plastic bottle off and invert it, so that it bottle necks towards the inside.

thats all i did too. 20oz spring water bottle, and cut the top cone, invert it, and put a dab of super glue in a couple spots. I put some rubble rock in to keep it on the bottom better and added some sinking food pellets. I did it at lights out, and it helps if you don’t feed for day or so before, so they’re good and hungry…

same shape as a minnie trap.
easy to go through the little funnel hole swimming from the wide open end. but dificult to line up on the little hole from inside the trap.
