I thought I would post a thread of what you got from the swap meet today. I only saw one DRC member there. I got a ton of stuff. I am hoping tomorrow everything opens up all the way so I can post some pictures.
Turquoise acro or whatever its called.
15" toadstool
AOG
UFO picture just does no justice at all
The Mushrooms still stressed a bit.
Jason Fox Bonsai that i dropped and broke so now it became 2 frags
A whole lot of frags
Oh Yeah, that was me there. I brought home 15 new frag species for my collection. Im still opening, inspecting and dipping them now. so far so good. no strange surprises. prettly clean frags. many nice size, and color. i cant wait to see them all light up.
I got a ORA Roscoe Blue, a Fuzzy grn/bl tip acro, a Kiwi Strawberry Milli, some kinda Pink Table, a single polyp of Bam-Bam Orange, ORA Bali Green Slimer, Eagle Eyes, another type Green Slimer just in case the first one don’t slime, a Hyacinth Table, ORA Hawkins Enchirito, Turaki, Grape Cap and a Superman Monti Digi(red/orng on light blue body.) and some sorta bright orange zoos on a plug and an Eflo Acro frag.
It looked like they had a very good turnout this time. lots of nice people. and lots of nice frags everywhere.
I shoulda robbed a bank on the way up there. Eh EH!! Coulda got more frags…
Nice list you got. There were a few Zoa’s that I was looking at but I did not want to pay that much for 2 polyp frags. Did you get that Kiwi strawberry acro from Rigle? He had some nice pieces. Jason Fox had really nice pieces until he said how much some of them were hahahaha.
I did not see gorgonious either. I left after 3 I kept debating buying some more jason fox and a couple more pieces from Dan(Rigle).
My toadstool was opened up first thing this morning and now its shrinking… so picture will have to wait but April told me it has the green polyps and a blueish color in it. So far everything is opening up nicely.
Did you guys dip everything you got? I had to use a 5 gallon bucket for dipping.
I always inspect, and dip everything just as routine. all the frags looked fine and healthy. either grown and based on their plugs or fresh breaks just glued to new clean pugs. so not much chance of algae growing on them. i mostly worry about a hitch hiking flat worm or red bug or acro eating nudi. but a quick dusting with the turkey baster would knock off most crawlers in the white butter tub, so i can see anythig moving with a mag glass. then a dip in Revive for a cleaning and whatever else that does, and then a 10 second dip in RO water which would kill any flat worms hiding. and then into a bowl of clean new saltwater for a couple minutes the stabilize.
Id say all those reefers up there know how to keep good tanks, so, i didnt expect to find any problems. and didnt. i like getting fresh break frags from healthy mother colonies. very little chance of any hitch hikers on them. and no algae.
I got an ORA green bird nest frag, Plating Monti, Rose bubble tip anemone, and a couple mystery SPS frags. I hope that the swap here in DE has more room to move. At 11 am it was so bad trying to get a peek at the corals on display and the isles were too close together for my clumsy feet. I need to post pics when I figure out how to put up a link. I gave lots of flyers for the march 10th swap to the vendors that Craig sent with me. It was my first swap and definitely will not be my last. ;D
I was with Scott and have to agree the biggest problem was space. It was so crowded you couldn’t move anywhere. I definitely think Craig had the right idea about how to set it up because with everyone moving 20 different directions to get around it made everything one big traffic jam. Had to leave around 1 so Scott could get to work, so I didn’t get to hang around to see the raffles. How did that go? Did they raffle stuff off there, or was it one of those things where they call you if you win? Did anyone win anything or see any cool prizes? Here are the pictures me and Scott took. They’re not great because they were taken with a cell phone, but it will give people an idea of what it was like.
It was tight in there. I had a hardtime getting around with a 5 gallon bucket and a cooler to find everyone. Eventually I just put everything in the car and wasted another 2 hours looking for extra things to pick up. To me there were 2 stands that really stood out to me for nice items and some not so bad prices and that was Dan and Jason Fox. Though some of Jason’s stuff I thought was a bit over priced some of it was priced pretty fair like my Jason fox bonsai :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D So far i am pretty happy with everything I got except my nuclear sunset mushroom is pretty small and still has a cut in it that did not connect from when the guy tried to clone it. I love this toadstool leather I kinda don’t want to sell it now.
How did i miss yous guys? I was there from 11.30 to about 2. Pick number 3 is Pablo’s travel tank. He is at many of the frag swaps. he has a nice collection of xenia types. thats a pretty easy setup for any of us looking to bring a lite weight tank for our swap.
