my rbta is in a position [moved there about 3 months ago]that threatened my clams, so i kept sticking the nem gently w/ a blunt plastic piece, hoping it would move slightly. PERFECT, but now, after a week of unhappy retreating, the rbta is now tickling/stinging a 1"monti frag that is epoxied to the rock .
i know i can’t keep the nem between the clam and monti. the monti is thin and fragile, and i’m sure it’ll break in a move. changing the flow has not worked either.
can the monti live being constantly touched by the nem?
so far there’s no burns on the cap, but this nem has torn up buttons and birdsnest before i moved them.
pic. tentacles are much closer to the monti than this shows, sometimes they cover, touch, sting about 1/2 the mont all the way to the right.
the anemone will eventually kill it.
You might try prying the monti off the rock. Sometimes the epxoy will break loose of the rock. Pry under the epoxy between the epoxy and the rock. Good luck.
EXACTLY RIGHT JOHN, MONTI IS UNBROKEN AND MOVED. yay YahoO
You’re likely to run into this again in the future. I’d actually be surprised if you don’t run into it over and over again. I raise my anemones in my tanks with my xenia I don’t keep many hard corals in with them at all. Might want to plan on keeping it separate down the line. Worth considering when you decide to set up the next tank.
thnx, jon. i plan to give the new tank careful consideration, inhabitants as well as aquascaping. but i don’t have the tank yet. just got the skimmer/sump/return pump from rich.
not sure what tank i can find used that will work for what i want, shallow [no more than 18" and would like less] with more sqft on the bottom.
