I went to lowes on 273 looking for aluminum C channel for a DIY heatsink for my LED build but couldn’t find any. I am looking for at least 1" wide if not 2" wide by 1" tall, needs to be good aluminum for heat dissipation. Anyone know where to find some? Or if anyone else has any cheap DIY heatsink ideas, regular aluminum heatsinks are too expensive, especially after shipping. Thanks.
there is a metal store on Old Airport RD. right outside of Newport they might have it. Homedepot I think only carries it in steel. Not sure if they carried just a straight piece of aluminum that you could weld together. Just googled aluminum c channel and came up with home depot. Might be online only order not sure

Thanks for the reply. I’ll have to look for that metal store in Newport. I really don’t want to order sonething online, save shipping costs. yeah, I went to a home depot before and they didn’t have what I was looking for but online they potentially did, oh well.
No problem, I think you might have to order online due to the dimensions you need. stinks but “shit happens”
A&H Metals in Newark does costom metal work for the panel shop I used to work for. They should carry some in stock and sell it for a minimal price. They go through c-channel like it’s water. Give em a look, they might be cheaper than the big name places.
Thanks, I will have to talk to them and see what they’re prices are. I talked to Joseph Fazzio’s Steel & Metal on old air port road. They have 2x1x1/8 aluminum C channel 60" for $11.55, I need 5 of them I think, running up to 96 LEDs.
Good to hear they carry what you need. Does not sound to expensive considering metals are worth more now.
