I am not sure if this is a mistake or if I am misunderstanding. I also have not edited a wikipedia article in the past and I am not sure how to do so. I was wondering if you guys could take a look and see if it made sense to you or if it was indeed a mistake. Perhaps after we dicuss if it is a mistake or not someone will feel comfortable correcting it.

“have no spicules”
“The skeleton consists of spicules”
I like oddball corals, always looking for something new and different and like to really understand something before I start taking care of it. I recently made a video of mine to share with people on YouTube and I wanted to check if it was just the family in which it was the extant species(the only one that has not gone extinct) or the only one in the entire order.
It slipped my mind so I hit google, Wiki came up, wiki had some info that did not really make sense, so I wanted to bounce if off someone else. I am not sure how something can have no spicules yet have a skeleton that consists of spicules…
maybe they make a distinction between Innies and Outies. perhaps a softie can have them inside the stem for structural strength, and others might also have them on their skin, for protection?
Uhhh, do you get more than two hours sleep a week?

I am not sure if “skin” is the proper term, or inny or outy for that matter lol, but I believe your dead on Ken. The coral’s lack of corallites on the surface and eight-tentacled polyps is why it is not a scleractinian.
I am no biologist, but if humans evolved to have 12 fingers I would still say they are a mammal… This is one I have never understood and I have spoken with many other people(including two doctors) who don’t really get it either.
