Would this work as a frag tank?

I had a 2.5 Minibow aquarium at home. It has an intank filter that is pretty powerful and I was wandering if I could use it as a cheap frag tank. I know it isn’t that big but I figure since I have it I might as well use it! The main thing I worry about is the light. But does that matter? Please let me know! Thanks!

i use 2 100 watt compact floecents on my frag tank. what are u going to be putting in there anyway.

Anything that holds water could be a frag tank. I say could be because

The main thing I worry about is the light. But does that matter?[/quote] you know the answer you are just waiting for someone to confirm it.

Full lighted hood with bulb and convenient feeding door.
the problem is this is not very descriptive.
If its an:
incandescent bulb - no
Cp florescent bulb - probably not, not sure of spectrum. Chances are since this is mostly used for freshwater it is a cheep bulb but it may be replaceable.

Otherwise it can be modded to house a 6500k, 18watt cp florescent spotlight bulb from Home depot for $10

Yeah it is an incandescent light. So how would I mod it for the lights? Give me the steps and what I need and I shall do that I suppose!

So it would not work because it is incandescent and that is because of the spectrum? Just so I know for the future!

yup. the tank is ok, it holds water and not too deep. Incandescent lamps are lower lumens for the watts and usually too low a Kelvin spectrum. but you could use one of thos clip on work lamps with the metal cone shaped reflector with a screw in lamp socket in the center. but use a 23 watt, 100 watt equivalent 6500K spiral compact bulb. I have seen people grow xenia under those sucessfully in 10 gallon tanks. 6500K is about full noon sun at the tropics in less than 10 feet of sea water.

should work to make em grow, but don’t look for wild colors. that comes with deeper blue spectrum, usually.
