If I’m not mistaken Melev was recently banned from RC - I suspect that he did it intentionally - that is the only way to get the credit that you deserve in this hobby. Nobody that actually knows anything is still allowed to be an active member on RC.
I must say that it was very well written and absolutely hysterical to think about. But it’s a joke.
I wonder if that page is what got him in to trouble with RC.

Considering that Marc had already been removed from TRC and Reefkeeping magazine because he'd stolen our trademarked logo and was selling product with it, his "joke" was the last straw.

There’s a huge difference between quantitiy and quality. RC has been around for a long time and had some great sponsor which allowed them to grow to astronomical numbers. Unfortunately now it’s all beginner stuff and the same old topics being rehashed over and over and the same misinformation being spouted off as gospel by the same people that read it this morning.
I’d rather be over here and on reef-geeks.com where I can have intelligent conversation and get a little more in-depth then “How do I know when my tanks done cycling?” occasionally.

Recently got banned from RC? Melev was banned from RC, spoke out against them on his pod cast, then rejoined and became a sponsor, then got kicked off again. If you write a book your banned from RC, if you give a lecture your band from RC, if you get a job in the industry your banned from RC, if your show any spec of intelligence your banned from RC. I feel bad even following google links to that site as I feel I’m adding to its traffic.
Reefkeeping mag has at times linked itself with talkingreef.com, but talkingreef.com strongly states they are NOT a part of reefcentral. I wish another site would create a free online magazine with half as much traffic and a tank of the month section. Having your tank featured as tank of the month in ReefKeeping mag is still a huge achievement it is a shame it’s associated with that site and those moderators.
Rc is a victim of its own success. the more diverse their participants, the more conflict with its sponsors and theme. It took a while but was inevitable. Good thing we live in Delaware, Small Wonder. less chance of that happening here. I hope. It’s up to us. just be reasonable and tolerant. And above all, participate in good spirit, good humor and the quest for knowledge.
