WP-25 wavemaker

Got my WP-25 wavemaker in today and snapped a few pics opening it up. I wasn’t overly impressed with how it was boxed up, it looked like it was just tossed in the box, but everything looks good. At least you can see some pics - when I get a chance, I’m gonna put it in the tub to run it for a little bit and I’ll take some video.

Quick thoughts - I left the controller in the bag, since the light sensor is in there - I didn’t want to lose it, because it wouldn’t surprise me if I do before I get my system running. Also, it looks and works just like a Tunze, but the inside of the mounting bracket has little nipples on the inside so that when you turn and adjust the pump, they act like little stops so when you find your sweet spot, you don’t have to worry too much about accidentally moving it while doing maintenance and stuff. I also like the magnet / suction cup mount. This thing isn’t going anywhere once it’s mounted.

Thanks for posting. Hope to hear more when its running. Did you purchase directly from fish street or another source? I read on other forums when some one had a problem, fish street covers the warranty no hassle but you must ship it to them. They will ship a replacement no cost. So I guess its go time with the tank?

I wish it was go time - just to get it done and over with. The epic battle with old lady has begun as to where it’s going to go, when it’s gonna happen… She has no idea she will lose this one.

Anyway - a bunch of us from the Virginia Beach and Richmond clubs got together and did a big group buy from Fish Street - I think all together there were around 100 of these things that came in, the pallet was huge and wrapped in sheet metal for additional protection. We did that back toward the end of July / beginning of August. It took about an extra week and a half to get mine after they all got theirs since everything had to be broken out and re-distributed.

I didn’t get a chance to play with it last night, maybe today.

I’m looking forward to the review and longevity of the pump. I’ve heard some pretty good things about this, and I love the idea of reduced flow utilizing the light sensor.

I just get apprehensive about purchasing anything with a name anything close to “Jebo” on it.

+1. I have had more than one bad experience with chineese knock off tank stuff. They have made an effort to improve quality though. Other reviews for this item have been mostly good. Time will tell.

I’ve been in that same boat for as long as I can remember, fixtures catching fire, stuff just dying and burning up, etc. I was real hesitant at first then after all the reviews and demonstrations and plus - at $60 - I get the benefit of a Tunze and a Vortech (for the most part). I figured why not - I’ve spent more money on livestock only to watch it die.

Yeah I plan on messing with it this evening if I can. I had to do some after school stuff with my son last night and I just didn’t feel like dealing with it after I got home.

One reason I have not got one of these is dealing with a warranty issue if bought from a 3rd party. Can you find out info on this for me?

Rick will not be offering any sort of warranty on these himself, he will provide contact info for all repairs. However, Reef Breeders offers a 6 month warranty on these.
