WTB list for new 75g build.

So as the title eludes to I am about to start gathering equipment for our 75 gallon build. We are closing on our house on the 21 and should be able to start moving forward with the project then, however I do need a few items. They are as follows:

-Stand for 75g with hidden storage underneath for sump
-Sump to fit under tank, preferably no bigger than 55 g with a refuge section
-Protein skimmer small enough to fit in sump under tank
-Heaters, thinking 2 200w just in case one goes, open to suggestions on this
-Pump for sump if not already obtained

Probably missed a bunch of things but that was the basic list of the top of my head… Any ideas suggestions greatly appreciated!

I’m starting to feel like a pawn shop for fish tank stuff.

Look in to what kind of skimmer you’d like. I have a buddy that has asked me to sell his ASM G3 (same skimmer I use) already has the gate valve mod. I’ll double check what he wants for it, but I can bring it down with the tank if you’re interested.

Take it from somebody who has a 55g under a 75g, go with a 40g breeder for a sump. As much as I am satisfied with my sump, I cannot change my skimmer at all with out removing the sump, which requires breaking down the entire tank first… (look at my clearance above the sump) and you need to find a stand that is wide enough for it to fit.

Here is an older pic of my system showing the sump set up.

Thanks for the advice, I have a lead on a 38g sump/refuge… that sounds like it would be about right for what I’m looking for. Its all about what is available for the right price ;D and what looks good and is functional all at the same time… easy right? lOl

OK guys still hoping for an offer of a 75g stand… its kinda hard to give a definate answer on a sump without knowing stand height. If anyone has one available with a hidden open bottom please pm me with an offer… will be closing on our new home on the 21 and would really like to have everything ready to set up once the floors are done. Can you tell I’m excited!!!, really just tired of fixing rock avalanches in the aquapod lol ready to do it right this time around ;D

I wouldn’t recommend anything bigger than a 30l under a 75 personally… 40 breeder is too wide. 40l is too long. I think the 38 will be too tall. find a used 30l and spend 15 - 20 bucks at Lowe’s for glass and silicone. then u can baffle it and make your refuge/filter/return sections to fit your own needs… pretty simple to do IMO. plenty of people on here to give u advise when u r ready to do it.

::thumbsup::

I use a 30g (36’’) under my 125… works great imo, nice little fuge area.

I’m selling my whole 90 gal. system that has what your looking for & more.
LED lights, MP40, ASM G3, Custom stand(furniture grade),40 gal. breeder sump,premium live rock(no pests)
BRS dual stage media reactor w/maxijet 1200, heaters w/cootroller, return pump, corals, etc.

Pm sent

OK, now that I have the tank (thanks Craig!) and potentially a stand and canopy… I need to figure out what to do for my sump and return pump. I have an offer on a 38g sump but am afraid it will be too tall. Does anyone have a 30 available with a refuge section? Also what type of return pump should be used with this setup? Cannot wait for my floors to be finished and a stand so I can start setting everything up ;D

Also looking for recommendations for a good t5 fixture… I was thinking a 4 bulb fixture with leds. Not sure which one to go with though.

4 bulb t5 with led moon lights? or led’s that add par?

and are you looking for a complete manufactured fixture with timers, bells and whistles, or a diy type?

And this is for a 75g right? what do you plan on keeping in there? how light needy?

Really just wanted the leds for moonlights. Don’t need timers since I have a power strip with timers built in, just don’t want a million cords. It can handle two nighttime, two day and four constant. Needs to be energy efficant too. Looks don’t matter too much since I’m leaning towards putting a canopy over the tank, however in that case it would need good fans.

Oh and yes its for a 75 so would need to be 48". I only keep softies really, don’t plan on getting into acros or anything like that. I have a chalice and leather but the rest are all mush, torch, anchor, gsp, that kind of thing. I figure if it can handle just the pc lights on my aquapod, the t5s should be fine.
