yellow clown goby

i am thinking about getting a yellow clown goby. i heard they have a tendency to get stomach parasites, not eat then die. does anyone support this. how much will they effect coral they purch on??? well ur the experts tell me what u think.

I got one a while back that did exaclty what you said. We tried everything we could to make him eat… 6 or 7 different foods, and nothing worked. Eventually he starved and died, and there wasnt anything we could do but watch. I would say that if you can ask the store to feed him, look to see if it eats. As long as it does it should be fine. As far as bothering corals dont worry about it. Our used to lay right in the middle of our hairy mushrooms, ricordea, and the like and they wouldnt even react to him because they are so tiny.

Best little SW fish for the money , in my opinion. I love the little clown gobies. they perch, the hover, they cling to the glass. How do they do that? Ive had a yellow for a couple years now and a green clown gobie for 5. they eat very little. but are always out perching somewhere, to be seen.

I put my yellow in a tank with a tiny, quarter size blue hippo tang when i bought them for company. to this day it still drives Dory crazy when it swims to mid water and just stops and hovers. Dory tries the same and goes banannas when she sinks.! never learns.

my experience has been they are pretty much indestructible. mine have survived all kinds of bad tank conditions and power failures.

they are small fish and eat small bits of food. flake, broken bits of brine, stuff like that. or hunt pods.

ive had mixed success…some have died within a week, others lived for a year or so…

i dont think these fish ship into stores very well…everytime i see them in LFS, they look sick, or have small parasites on the body…

and depending on what other fish are in your aquarium, i could be a little difficult getting food to the little guys…

but their personality is very neat to watch, great for nanos…and perching on acros too
