Zeovit...... Zeowhat?

What do you guys know about it, it effectiveness. Can anyone explain it in basic talk… it leaves me a little confused.

pretty straight forward. its bacteria and bacteria food designed to create a hypo-nutrient environment. their is “rock tumbler/reactor” component to the system that provides a “media” for the process. there is an entire line of supplements/foods to be dosed in conjunction with the system. its also predicated on the assumption that the system is skimmd HEAVILY. its for SPS only systems(for the most part), is very popular accross the pond, and will bring out the most amazing colors in SPS. however, IMO, the colors are not natural, and they are VERY light, almost pastel shades. dont get me wrong, the systems are beautiful but just not natural looking. asides from the specific strains of bacteria used, the basic system is not fundamentally different than other more common methods(carbohydrate dosing(vodka, sugar, etc), denitrators, etc). the differnce(if you read their literature) lies in the specific strains of bacteria introduced to the system as well as the entire system as a whole(dosing all the additives). im convinced that it works and works well and can be done in a relatively affordable manner on a small system. its just pricey and tedious.

Have to agree with Shawn in that I am also not crazy about the idea. If you wanted to set up a VERY clean SPS only system and had $ to throw out it then it would be something to look into.(After first purchasing a tank with starfire glass, setting up a large sump and fuge, a ReefKeeperElite net with every probe, and a top of the line skimmer with ozone.) The end result as Shawn said is a system that… just isn’t natural. I have little experience working with a system like that and if I did it may change my mind, but as of currently it is not for me and I would never recommend it to a beginner hobbyist.

I believe that even if you have seen tanks with this sort of set up there are MANY other steps to getting a system like this set up first. The most importance of which, as Shawn said, is a kick a.$ skimmer.

Ya, my next upgrade is def going technologically advanced. First things first is a RKE to hook the the internet…

Sounds fun but if it looks fake forget the zeovit…

I liked the results I had when doing it with VSV and MB (vodka sugar vinegar, microbactor), basically the same concept. The corals didn’t seem to significantly grow a ‘fake’ look or color up drastically. Looked to be some color gain and water clarity seemed to increase (but that could just be me). I drifted away from the tanks a bit and couldn’t keep up with the daily dosing.
