My zoas don’t seem to be growing/spreading at all. Not sure why or even how long it takes. I see some pictures of people who have them fully covering rock.
How long have you had them?
Some for about 8 Months. Others a little over 2 months. Just got a good led light a little over a month ago as well.
Need more info like…
Where are they located in the tank?
How are the other corals doing ?
Do the zoas open up all the way when the lights are on?
Are your parameters all where they should be?
Zoas are one of the easiest corals to grow.
Can you look back at pics when you first got them and pics now to compare growth?
Pics will help
they are on the bottom. yes they open up when lights are on . all corals seem to be doing good . just dont notice grotwh other then the xenia seems to grow.
Took these results this morning.
Temp: 78-79
Salinty: 1.028
Nitrate: 10-20 ppm
Calcium: 420 ppm
Phosphate: .25 ppm
KH: 107.4-125.3 (6-7 drops)
Ammonia: .25 ppm
obviously the ammonia stands out but could be 0. hard to judge the yellow and slight color change. how much of a factor does the KH play in growth?
Nitrates, ammonia are high. Salinity is high
I’ve never gotten crazy growth on my zoanthids either. It seems you need to individually locate them to find a happy spot for each colony. They’re hardy and can withstand just about anything, in my experience, but getting them to grow fast has always evaded me too.
Nitrates and ammonia are high, along with salinity. I don’t know what those numbers in your KH readings convert to, such as your Kh or alkalinity should be around 8.
Did a fish go missing in your tank recently or something die? Your nitrates and ammonia should read 0
And how about your magnesium reading?
