I just looked them up, they are really cool looking
They’re very common on reefs but they’re hard to get. I think it is because they don’t ship well.
Well looks like they likely have velvet. Crap! Spent the day yesterday running round getting the things I need to treat them. Spent all morning doing the treatment and they’re now in copper for 2 weeks.
The process wasn’t bad, just a lot of parts that needed to be in place at the same time.
- 5 min freshwater dip
- 75 min Rally dip
- Transfer to hospital tank at therapeutic copper level, can’t slowly ramp it up. I had to replace the water in the tank because I dosed Prime yesterday for ammonia. Prime + copper = dead fish.
I’m a few days in on the quarantine and everyone is looking good. They’re all starting to color up nicely and they’re eating well too. They will stay in copper for another 11 days and then move from the hospital tank to the quarantine for another couple of weeks for observation.
One fish has emerged as the bully, of course, and is chasing the others around. From what little information is out there on these guys, they are like clownfish and the largest will become the female. I guess that’s what’s going on now with them. Let’s hope it subsides or one fish is going to need a new home.
It could be due to the small space they are in casuing tje aggression

True. We shall see. They’ve got another 3.5 weeks to work it out slap-stick
All 5 fish made it through the copper treatment. PBJ! They’re now in another tank for a two week observation period and two rounds of Prazipro. The fish are really starting to look great. Their colors are coming up strong and new colors I haven’t seen in pictures of them are coming up too.
Glad to hear. Can’t wait to see pics

Thanks. It is a big relief. I’ll try and get some pics. They are super fast and the light on the QT isn’t that good.
Only one week left in QT and wouldn’t you know it… one of them is showing signs of internal parasites. #@$^ Off to get yet another medication tomorrow. Probably have to extend my QT now too.
What kind of med do you need to get?
Hope it works and it clears up the problem.
A combination of Prazipro treatments in the tank and feeding them food soaked in metroplex and focus.
New fish= PIA!
Seriously! First new fish in years and the first time I’m actually QT’ing. Royal pain.
Been a while since I updated. Long story short, none of the fish made it out of QT. 4 of them likely would have, but I left a pump off overnight and they didn’t make it. Plan to buy more of the same chromis along with a matted filefish and a yellow corris wrasse in the near future. Just waiting to see if my dog’s vet is willing to give me a prescription for Chloroquine phosphate so I don’t have to use copper.
In the meanwhile, I’ve been messing around with my macro lens a bunch more. I took a few quick shots during a water change the other day.
Big fan of all those zoas
And yes I kno I can’t spell

Nice pics!
