Bills 300 gallon tank build

Thanks guys, i’m pretty happy with it and that is hard to say since as much as I hate putting my arm in the tank it seems to be in it everyday ??? Paul that is the DR Mac one from years ago, it has not grown a whole lot but seems to be pretty happy. Craig got stuff for ya when your ready and the clams are pretty happy except one maxima and the one derasa and only due to the chevron pecking at the shells and pissing them off. I want to 3 more clams a decent size one not sure of the color, a black and white maxima and a blue squammy and think the clams will be done this time unless there is something really that strikes me. Hard to believe that you can run out of room on a tank that big but DAM Im running out of room.

I have the skimmer in recirculation mode out of the sump so I can finally set up the surge tank.
I need to get one more power pack for the neptune so everything can be controlled and maybe get the thing programed so I can use it correctly and get everything on my phone ::thinking::

A yes please on the milli, I got one for you as well.

Ken yes I added one 450 blue bulb and a 75/25 white which also has the red in it cause the bulb looks pink so with those I have the full spectrum. the light count is the 3- 100 watt led chips the 2- 6ft blue led tubes , 2 420 6ft VHO tubes and 1- 450 tube and 1- 75/25 white. The tank is almost as bright as when I was running the MH but the electric consumption is not there so the wifes is still happy ::thumbsup::

What a beautiful tank Bill!!! YahoO

I love the way you have the aquascaping setup, plenty of space for coral growth and room for the fish to enjoy. Really looks so natural. Your corals display amazing colors and combining soft, LPS and SPS corals the way you have them in your tank, is truly rewarding.

Your continued patience and determination and hard work have paid off. PRICELESS!!! GolfC

Thanks John

I try and im far from anything other then a novice but it seems to be the right combination and everything seems to be working and you know how it is you can read a 100 books and each opinion is different and still doesnt work for your tank.

I have to agree with everyone else Bill. That tank looks absolutely stunning. Wish I could get my tank to look that good.

Its even more impressive in person. cant really get the feel of the size and depth in a picture.

Looks great Bill ::thumbsup::

what does your CUC consist of roughly? do you have any algae issues?

looks nice and clean, and the coraline covered glass looks sweet!

Thanks Ken and Jeff

John I have very little hair algae and have couple small spots of that thick stem turf algae, as for clean up crew I have 2 big turbo snail, about 9 large nassarius snails, about 6 small blue and red legged hermets and one scarlet. I also have one large hermit that I was a little uneasy about since he is a furry crab and there usually bad but he is a model citizen, he sifts the sand and picks at the rocks . I also have a diamond watchman gobie that sifts the sand if you wanna call him part of the clean up crew, but thats about it.

Bill, are you still around?

It’s been a couple of years, would love to get your input on the LED’s performance.

He’s still around alright. Any updated pics of the monster there Bill? lOl

Hey Jason

Yeah I’m around , my corals are growing under the LEDs but I do have different fixtures now and will say with the other LEDs I had they did better. I’m not the happiest with the color that I get from the fixtures I choose but not unfixable . I’ve not done much with tank just been messin with the bike and the house but winter time is coming and that is alway tank time.

I’ll try to get some new pics A and post them but gotta clean the glass first ;D

WOW, that tank looks fantastic. Good Stuff Bill!

I think I am going to need to see this in person that tank looks insane. ::thumbsup::

 Hey guys

I got my basement just about finished got the carpet down and really starting to come together, the tank is going through some major changes here starting yesterday. LED's are down and got a nice 6 foot MH fixture with 2 = 5 foot T5s . Gonna change the bulbs, little white for my liking but , tank already looks 100 % better. Gonna do some reaquascaping on the left side little too much rock in it and need to get very angry tang out so I can add some more fish without them being chased out of the tank.

I will get some new pics, when its back and everything is back in it including my clams that have been hiding in my frag tank.

Thanks alot,

unfortunately some of those corals and some of the clams I don't have anymore. Sucks but that is this hobby. I do like the aquacaping better now that I have then what was there before. It will be back better then before when I'm done now that I can actually put some time into it.

Glad your back in Bill, can’t wait to see pics of your beautiful tank.

PICS!!! verdict_in

Dam the pressure. KILLING me

Color is not bad but little too white for me, new bulbs will be here in a week. For the price of the fixture the color is not bad at all. The tank is really holding its own since no water changes in 3 months.

That tank is amazing!!! GolfC
