Casey's 220 build, gonna be slow.

PBJ! PBJ! PBJ! PBJ!

Title says it guys, finally got a 6 footer. Thanks to Jason i was able to get a good deal on a brand new 210, there will be a 40br sump and a 20h refugium attached to the system. This build is gonna take a little while to get up and running because Im going to take my time and do everything right the first time, all the way down to the stand and canopy.
So yesterday i finally got a start on the stand, after having the tank for 2 weeks.
So here is where im at so far. Will keep everyone updated as i make progress on things, mean while…ENJOY. (lord knows i am. YahoO)

All boards are joined together with pocket screws and 2-1/2 kreg wood screws, didnt know how strong those would be, but they are very strong holds. Top and bottom frame are made of 2X6 and legs are 2X4. Still need to get my from and back center supports in, plywood for top and bottom frames then the skinning. The stand is going to stand a whooping 43inches tall, we are tall people so this is going to be good viewing height for us.

And of course sense i think of everyone on here as reef family, i cant leave this picture out. I told y’all early about the last stinker, so here it is, Boy NUMERO 2.

Hope you all enjoy!

Stand is looking good. Will you be able to reach the sand bed with it being so tall?

Wil def be using a ladder for water changes and reaching the bottom of the tank.

Congrats on dude #2!

Pocket drilling is the way to go - super strong. Looks like a great start!

Congrats on the arrival of your second boy. Tank build is looking good and taking your time to do it right the first time is very smart on your part.

Thanks, im extremely excited about both, cant wait for both to be complete.

I can help too if interested!

Thanks for the offer mortyn will let you know when im ready.

Made a little more progress today, put down plywood for top and sump area, cut out the overflows and patch, filled and sealed.

Time to put some lipsick on this pig. Picked up some good looking maple plywood today that I will skin it with. Heres a pic to close out the night.

Looking good!

If you move this mug over a weekend - let me know. If I’m in town, I may be able to help you move it too. A 210 is no light animal.

IDK where you are located, but I got 4 of these glass movers you can borrow if you want. I’m in New Castle.

Thanks for the offer nelson, Gonna be moving the tank to the stand frame tomorrow evening, im in dover so your up the road a ways. Thanks again for the offer.

Got the facing and 2 sides cut out today along with all doors. Working on framing doors and staining all the pieces. Got the frame in and tank in today. Heres a few pics for everyone.

Very nice - I like the overall height!

Looks great Casey, nicely done. ::thumbsup::

Nicely done Casey. Sorry couldn’t make it to help you to put it one the stand, had to work. How many people did it take to get it up on the stand that high?

Thanks, I love the height as well. Im 6’2" and the tank is about 3 inches taller than me. Putting a 10 inch shelf/bar around the top of the stand so you will be able to set food/drinks on it while enjoying the fish. Also have 3 bar height bar stools to pick up to go with it.[/quote]
