Well ended up going with 2 reefbreeders and couldnt be happier, their build quality is amazing and the colors are great. Working on my canopy tomorrow so the lights are temporarily sitting on temp rails. Have about 100lbs of rock to add to the tank but for the most part its running full throttle.
Also got the big skimmer up and running and heres a couple pics from 3 days to 1 week in. Picked up a nice blonde naso on Vets day as well.
Still have to get my wiring all consolidated and neat in its dry compartment, but for now theres no problem where its at.(EVERYWHERE)
Tank and setup is looking really fine, Casey. Here is a suggestion for the collection cup on your skimmer. If you drill a small hole on the side of the cup near the bottom and place a barbed fitting in the hole, you can run a hose off of it into a gallon jar and not have to empty it as often. You can also buy a acrylic container that has a built in shut off, so when the container gets full, it stops the container from overflowing, thus avoiding any mess under the tank. Here is a picture of what I have setup to give you an idea. My skimmer is on the left bottom of the pic and you can see the hose running into my collection container. It really allows you some peace of mind.

John where do you find that barbed fitting? I was thinking about doing that.[/quote]
I have seen barbed fittings (other side NPT) at lowes. Come in straight and 90 degree.
Hey guys, Thought id do a little update.
Not alot has changed just letting the tank run and mature. It is at 58 days today and things are going pretty good. Went on vacation for 2 weeks in november and A (reefman) looked after the tank for me so i have him to thank for 2 weeks of its care.
Wow Casey, it coming along really nicely. What is the current livestock? I could pick out a few but wondered what else we don’t see as well as corals. Its also nice that the clowns picked the side of the fuge you can see easily to make their home.
Thanks scott. Currently all I have is the mystery wrasse, foxface, hippo, 1 black ice clown and a fire shrimp. Had a wave of losing fish hit last month and lost a good bit. I will take some corals pics tomorrow, dont have alot right now but hope to load up on frags very soon.
Looks great Casey. give it time to slowly cycle. its a big tank with lots o rock, sand and surfaces to be colonized in the good way. starting the fuge first was a good idea.
Hmm, not sure what kind of fish you are looking for, but i still have a couple in that old 75 i have to find a new home soon. there is one large saddle back clown fish. i used to have a mated pair, but one, i think the Dad, took a carpet dive a few years back. so this one might be the Mom. It would love a nice big tank to live in. I think i bought them both as a juvenile pair from the Fish bowl, the night we held a club meeting at their new, old store, the one before this one, about 6-7 years ago? so its about 7-8 years old. happy fish. You could possible add a new juevenile saddle back and make a new pair. the young one will morph to the appropriate sex to make a new pair.
and also a fairly large bristle tooth tang, you saw . , but you probably wouldn’t want the mean old yellow damsel they live with. it bites me all the time. its about 14 years old. I think i will put that in DPA’s live rock tank, to give the guys working there some excitement.
I was thinking that the micro bubble may be coming from the skimmer section and overflow into the pump section. Since there no light there in the pump section you can’t see the bubbles until it gets into the tank where there’s light shining on it.
Not sure, but I was thinking that when I was looking at the tank.
Little update, re-aquascaped and lowered my right pile of rocks to allow coral growth, also redone the center piece into a horse for a bit of a lagoon look. Enjoy…
