Casey's 220 build, gonna be slow.

Can’t beat free stuff. Way to go Casey. Also assuming the DT tank is right behind that wall?[/quote]

Wish it was that close. Its about 30ft away but is a straight shot. I will have the output of the pump plumbed in with an attachment so i can just attach a hose and pump straight to the tank.

Heres a few to end then night. Ran out of plumbing parts, but heres the RO/DI tank ready to roll. Started making water also.

Also heres a shot of the crown molding and you can see the dry side right behind the right side door.

ENJOY

Nice! When are you going to fill the tank? I can’t wait to see what your aquascape is going to look like.

Hopefully start filling this weekend. Gonna be making water all week.

Minor setback, woke up this morning to the plumbing on the first tank leaking, the ball valves i used wouldnt seal properly. Went to lowes today and fixed that problem, got both tanks plumbed and the rest of my STATION done, just waiting on the pump.

Very nice find dude!! Coming along nicely !!

Got the mixing station all done and making water. Right tank will continuously mix saltwater and the left tank will be pure RO water. The vertical pipe has a quick disconnect for a water hose so when i start filling the tank all i have to do is attach the hose and run it straight to the tank. Same goes for water changes. No more mixing 5 gallon buckets of saltwater for me.

Also scored a very nice wrasse this week, Mystery Wrasse.

I have always loved the looks of Mystery Wrasses but the fact that you can’t have any shrimp or crabs with them turned me off, as I like my little critters too.

Why you post two of the same pic Casey. ::rofl:: ::rofl:: ::rofl::

i like it, i like it ahh lot. very clean looking

got excited A.lol

Thanks Dunk.

The build is coming along quite well. I really like the way a mystery wrasse looks and the neat personality / curiousity of them.

Hey guys, i know this build is long overdue for some updates so here you go…

I battled with the plumbing but after a little over a week i finally got it together and so far, (knock on wood) leak free. After having the tank fully plumbed, I plugged in the return and disaster struck, water spraying everywhere and leaking all over. So long story short, went to cutting and replacing and HEAVY glueing.
The tank is being ran with herbie style overflows, for those that arent familiar, it is basically 2 full siphon drains and 2 emergency backups with the return ran over the back.
Now, running up the back is working out pretty well for me so far, i ran the return split to 4 spots across the back, 1 in each corner blowing down to keep dead spots moving, and 1 on the inside of each overflow, and with the pump im running there is plenty gph to go around. This drain system is extremely quiet and bubble free.

On the sump, i ran a 40br that i partitioned off for a filter sock chamber, skimmer chamber, and large return section. The refugium is a 20H that sets on a 6 inch stand which just drains into the sump right before the bubble trap. Thanks to rob (FARALON) for the sump and refugium.

For the return pump, i was lucky enough to get a 15% off coupon through marine depot so i ordered the Reeflo dart/snapper hybrid gold, so basically i got 2 pumps for the price of 1. So far i am loving this pump, very quiet and very strong.

I have 110lbs of seafloor grade sand and didnt want to go with much more sense i will be keeping up with vacumming the floor and will be running a DSB in my refugium. For lighting i plan to run 3 led fixtures, more than likely a mix of AJM and reef breeders.

So enough talking, heres some pics, enjoy…

This is the picture as of now, running smooth and quiet. All you hear is a small hum which i could def live with.

Nicely done Casey. Probably the humming sound will be gone once you close all the doors to the stand. If not, there’s vibration pad that you can buy to help eliminate the noise from the pump being put directly on the floor. Unless the pump is doing all the humming? if that’s the case there nothing you can do, I guess.

I just saw the 6th picture from the bottom that you do have something under the pump. Is that helping with the noise at all?

Once i get some 2inch spa flex in all the humming should be gone. Today i drained sump and refugium down and pulled them out and put in a foam water repellant mat. Picked it up for 12 bucks at ollies, it the posture mats that lock together. Cut to size and then put everything back in.
I put some spa flex from return up and will do the same on the intake of the pump. Its is honestly not loud. If the tank was completely silent it wouldnt be right lol.

Wow things are moving along very nicely. Lots of unions and ball valves, good planning. Did you put ball valves on both sides of the pump so you can remove it without water draining from the sump if necessary? I guess it wouldnt be hard to just pump water out of the sump with the drain shut off. Its going to be a sweet tank setup. Keep the updates coming!

looking pretty nice Case ::thumbsup::

Thanks.

looking at lights. What you guys opinions?
Reef radiance 240 pro
ajm value fixtures
reefbreaders value fixtures.

This is my opinion. I think they’re all the same just different in price. They’re all look like the Chinese made fixture.

Woo - that’s some plumbing right there. Looks good and well thought out.

Lighting options - I don’t really think you could wrong with any of those. They’re all basically the same thing, just little tiny tweaks here and there to make them all just a hair different.

I know the guy from AJM (not on a real personal level) - he’s in Virginia Beach and is a member of the local club down there that I help run. He’s a good guy.

Reef Radiance - I bought my fixtures from him. Great customer service and am happy with them - still sitting in a box though.

Reef Breeders - No experience here - but from all the reading I’ve done, these guys are what most folks go for.

I chose Reef Radiance for 2 reasons: 1.) The fixtures I wanted were on sale at the time & 2.) I liked their LED layout / color option the most.

I got my LED’s off alliexpress.com direct from China and am very happy with them. I sent them the exact layout of what I wanted for colors and they made it custom at no extra cost. It came out to $170-180 with the optics. You can see what I got here:

Obviously you don’t have to hack them like I did.
