I was asked what I did to support the floor so here is what I have, 1 end is on the main beam of the house and the other end is being supported by double 2x10 thay are glued and bolted together. Each 2x10 can hold 1600 pounds per square inch. And the opposite end is supported by a 6" steel I beam and 2 lolly column that can hold 18000lbs each. So I think the tank will stay in place even if the house falls over!
nice duct work. you hire somebody for that? :-)###
That should hold it. you got the leverage right with the beam. The only thing you have to fear is …
Termites!!
And of course, Spiders! Dang Basement Spiders.
They scare everyone.
No termites here!

I got the back of the tank tinted yesterday. [/quote]Now that the tank is up and running how do you like the tint? was it easy to do? or you have someone else do it? Thinking about going this route instead of painting ours
I bought the cheap stuff from lowes.like 14$ Its like static cling, goes on easy, easy to work with. My 180 had regular tint for cars and it still looks great. But autozone sells the real tint that is a little Harder to use

how is the noise level on your overflowes iv got 2 overflowes with the stock piping that comes with mine was wondering what my options might be
Well lee the noise I had on the 180 with the standard doros drains wasnt too bad, I now am running a bean drain on this tank and it’s completly silent. Only noise I have is mp mp40
Just an odd off the wall question but how far off the wall did you put the tank? was thinking about putting ours up against with maybe an inch gap, we decided to just use the existing overflowes so shouldn’t be any pipes in the back of tank. Thoughts?
My tank has external overflows so I’m about 8" off the wall, my 180 was about 4" incase I needed to get anything behind the tank
All of mine have piping or syphon overflows on the the back so about 6 inches off the wall. They give my cat a bunch of nice places to hide. she even crawls over the sump and around it in the stand. small sumps. hard to find sometimes. but beware of salt water spray and splash. it is the best paint remover, ever. blisters it off the drywall right down to clean gray paper on it. Ive got to repair all my walls and moulding, once the tanks are removed.
Ok so a little update. Tank has been running just over a month now and over the past few weeks I have been noticing things starting to brown out. So I had 2 choices, 1st was to cut the height of the hood in half or build some sort of adjustable rack.
So after a few talks with some friends I decided to leave the height of the hood the way it is. And I built an aluminum rack that is hanging from the ceiling. It is adjustable very easily up or down. Here is a few pics with the lights on.
Ok update #2, this morning I went a picked up 70lbs of dry man made rock. It has never seen water. No pests or any other odd hitchickers! I will be doing some scaping tomorrow when I get up
I will be holding things together with this stuff from jb weld. I found a bunch of people using this stuff. And it’s 6$at lowes and is reef safe.
Looks great. Love your Koran angel… Wanted to get one before I got my sailfin
Just when I thought my tank was starting to look good. Thanks for reminding me I’m still doing something wrong! Lol
Tank looks great!
