DRC Frag Swap 2012

It’s the 27th is also the forum news highlight:-)

Just to let you know, I think 4’ ters will be cutting it close, at least for me. Maybe we could do some of both sizes. Just a suggestion.

Yes I read that and I know that however just specifing

I hope to be able to give everyone 8 footers, I just need to check how many tables are there. I don’t see It being a problem, except for guys like me who only have a stubby 30" frag tank. Lots of empty space to try and compensate for. Glad I’ll have frag rags and calendars to put out too.

Do we get the entire cafeteria space? If so, room will be no problem, especially compared to the swap at TPP. I didnt go this year, but last year was a ridiculously small area for the number of people there. I think i ran over about 50 peoples feet, 47 of them were by accident it was so crowded.

May be the last couple of days to consider doing so and for it to be worth wild, but what about calling up The Hidden Reef, Captin Nemos, and other LFS we haven’t reached in person and asking if we could mail them some fliers for them to lay out at their stores.(and while on phone invite them to come as well!)

Great to find reef club members willing to buy ultra rare chalice and platinum clown fish, but a new reefer at an LFS who hasn’t yet discovered reef clubs will still pay admission and likely still find frags they can keep! The majority of sales in this industry I still believe are with people who don’t even get involved in reef clubs. Stronger numbers the better.

We’ve already reached out to other “local” stores to participate, albeit not with great success. I do like the idea of reaching out again and at least getting them to put out flyers for us.

Anyone want to take point on this for me?

I know John. I still walk with a limp. slap-stick

I know Bill from Greenbank put up a flyer for DRC fragswap.

just finished my frag tank setup for the Big Frag Swap. Thought I should post it to maybe give others ideas for their setups.

Here is a sneak preview…

Pretty sweet and simple setup John ::thumbsup::

how many gallons does that hold?

That’s awesome - nothing like simplicity.

makes me remember the guy at the NCPARS swap last year that had a PVC stand made to go over his frag tank that had 2 LED flashlights taped to it with duct tape.

haha, i remember that… i said to myself… " l.e.d’s … wow, a high tech rig-job"

it did work pretty good though :think)

Nice and simple. I like it

Looks nice John looks just like what I gave dunk

Thanks all. it holds @ 17 gals. I just tried to keep everything light weight. The tray was actually my first attempt at a frag tank, so I already had it. The PVC is so cheap and comes apart for easy transport. The light fixture is the light I am using on my home frag tank.

Looks good and a good idea as well. Do you mind if I do something similar? Are you using a heater and power head?

I don’t mind. I posted it with the intention that it would give people some ideas. And yes I will be using a small PH and heater.

Thats the perfect rig. a little light, a light plastic shallow tank and as little water to carry as necesary.
