Welcome Casey, I’m in Dover as well  and houndsbayman, I used to leave near Salisbury how is it I missed this Dr. Mac’s place. The only place I found over that way that sold saltwater was Salisbury Super Pet… shudders is he not open to the general public?

well we seem to have about a half dozen or so people from s of odessa. we should make sure not to drive 6cars up to the next mtg.

I’m probably not going to be able to attend many meetings since they are at night, but we will see, I’d like to be able to make one sometime. I went to a couple of meetings with my friend Becca a few years ago and it was very informative… I seem to remember going to one in Dover back then though.

Hi Fafnf, if you ever get down this way again Pacific East ( Dr Macs) is in Mardella Springs, about 15 mins west of Salisbury, and they are open to the public. Really is a top notch facility, something you really shouldn’t miss.
Super Pet is the worst store for saltwater fish and corals I have ever seen in my life. It is a crime what they do to the animals. I stop by sometimes to see what I can rescue from there.

Haha SuperPet and Seaford Pet Emporium both… I used to live in Laurel De so I frequented both and everytime I went to the Seaford store there were always a few dead small animals and fish in tanks, made me sad. SuperPet seemed to be slightly better (no dead small aminals in cages) but still way below par. So glad I live farther north now and have more selection. So far I’m very pleased with The Fish Bowl, they’ve been most helpful as I know they are probably annoyed that I take ten forevers trying to decide what I want to bring home ;D I will definatly have to go check out his place though, I looked at the website and am thinking about a summer trip once I get some idea of what corals I want. I’m kinda picky and I love my kenya tree and yuma that I have now, so not sure what else to add yet. I’m sure I’ll find something I like there haha.

Well keep your eyes posted here. We will be planning a group trip to Dr. Macs this Spring. It’s a nice trip, the good Dr. personally helps as many of us as he can, gives us good specials, and supplies lunch too. PBJ!

Thank you all for giving me such a great welcoming. I was a part of a forum like this bak home and the people wasnt nearly as nice as you guys are and they were very rude when they seen your tank or what you had in it cause nothing was as good as theirs.

On another note i stopped by Fish Bowl today and picked up a nice skunk cleaner and a very nice zoa frag. Will post pics tonight.

THanks again everyone.

YGPM

back at ya big reef!

I was going to start a thread in members tanks but ill be switching tanks soon so wanted to wait. On another note i picked up some frags from REEFMAN today. His tank was awesome and had lots of amazing corals. Could have stood there all day and looked at it.

Trying to catch a decent pic of my picasso(semi)-

Best i could do.

Last but not least…My FAMILY-
Me and our kids

Wife and her christmas present. Shinook.

Great looking family! The little one looks awesome!! Hope those corals work out for you. LKM if you need anything.

Great photos of your tank and family. Do you ever go take your dogs to the dog park? I was there today with my husband, grandkids and my little yorkie enjoying the beautiful weather.

Nice frags you got from Reefman.

Thanks reefman hes just a little firecracker. Alot diff having a boy husky vs a girl husky. Black on is shelby shes 3.5 yr old and shinook is the red he is about 3 months old. The frags seem to be doing well. Hydro not showin any polyps yet but its day 1 under diff light and worse water quality.lol.

Thank you too Ellen, we havent took them to the park down town yet, shelby doesnt do so well with other dogs, but we do take them to the park on base quit often.

Overall im soo happy to have new friends thanks to you guys on this site and thankful for my beautiful family.

Thank you all again for making us feel welcome and for all your advise and help along our way.

Just a little update shots. I have the tunzes off cleaning the hair algae off them so water was very still so i decided to do some top down shots with the ol’ iphone. nothing fancy but not bad shots for a cell phone.lol

BTW i started running algea fix and a back of phosphate remover. Doing waterchange tomorrow. Will that defeat the purpose of running algae fix? Trying to get rid of all this hair algae before the new tank gets here…Wonder what that may be (cough ellen). Cant wait to see how the LED look over it.

LMK what you guys think of my HA infested tank.

Had to throw this in there:

case, algaefix marine needs to remain in the right concentration as long as possible in order to work. w/c will dilute it. i found that it took at least 6 applications to get rid of my h/a, so what i did was wait until right before the dose on the third day and THEN did my w/c, then added the next algaefix. i know people will say it’s curing only the symptoms, but since you’re already dosing w/af, do it right. i used it twice in 2 years and did not lose any critters at all during my 6 and then 9 dosings. right now, no h/a. good luck. btw, there’s a loooong thread on it on reef central. it most always works, with no probs. but unless you cut back on food, the h/a will return.

Thanks. I will prob do a small w/c on the third day like you said. I wanna beat this crap before i move to the new tank. Unless i see it disappear im not gonna use any of this rock thats in my system now. I will be switching to reef select bedding? the larger grain sand because im not happy with the CC i have now. I have cut back on feeding and and skimming very heavy. So fingers crossed and hope i can get rid of this ::bs::
