jt, I’m prepared for that, got my sleeves rolled up and ready to scrub.
Quick update with videos and pics.
BB is still doing good, starting to get some algae growing on the bottom and I’m leaving it alone letting it do its thing for a little while. LMK what you guys think. First video is the tank and the sec on is the sump area. I have went with the Herbie overflow setup on my system. Other than the humming from the pumps its extremely quiet.
Enjoy !
Heres the goodie i had come in this week. I was overly excited…
Here is my wifes little Oceanic Biocube 14g, picked up some softies from A (reefman) they are doing great. This is the clowns current home until i move them to the bigger tank.
Lastly heres my little man, i don’t think i have posted pics of him yet but all you guys knew he was on his way.
Looking good! In the last pic, The little guy looks like he needs a steering wheel, to pilot his little make believe submarine around the reef!
little update for anyone following my thread. Tank has finally ended its super algae bloom we all dread. Things seem to be doing great. Started with 5 chromis and am down to 1. Never found the bodies of the others. Just purchased a algae blenny and urchin last week. Let the fish stocking list being. Will be adding the clowns when i get a screen built for the tank, don’t want to take a chance on them jumping. Hope you all enjoy.
Thinking of adding a juevinile chevron until he gets a little size, any thoughts? I know there tang police is around here somewhere, hope i don’t get pulled.
Looks good Casey. Good luck on those corals.
I agree it looks good. Can you build a canopy for rimless tanks?
Thanks guys, the BB has really grown on me. I suppose you could build a canopy but i like the open top look. Gonna build a thin screen top for it to keep fish from jumping.
Nice job on the tank, looks great. I like the aquascaping, looks so natural. Good luck with it.
open top for sure looks really nice ::
So now that it has been running a while how hard or easy has it been with the bare bottom? does the pump keep most of the detritus off the bottom or do you have to siphon it out? By the way, looking great!
Thanks Scott. Its not to bad, i had the 2 tunze in the back at the very bottom both angled towards opposite corners to keep the debris out from under the rock and out of the center. I have a couple dead spots in the tank which work out pretty well because its only those few spots i can siphon out in a couple minutes. I usually siphon the bigger piles out then use one of the small ph to blow stuff out from under places i can’t reach.
Moral to the story yes its going fairly well. Corals seem happy, great polyp ext. Only thing is I’m having a little time keeping fish alive. Started out with 5 chromes and a white cheek. Down to 1 chromes. Tried adding an algae blenny and he was good for 3 days then found him stuck to a Ph so idk whats going on fish wise. Things check out good with test kits and that one single chromes is doing great.
I will update with more photos in a week to show how the corals are doing.
Thanks again for the comments.
Little update for you guys, Not much has changed here just letting the tank do its thang and grow grow grow. You all know i took a beating from redbugs a while back but some of the corals i thought i completely lost held on with 1-2 polyps and are slowly growing from what was left. Heres a little progression shots for you all.

Forgot to mention my project over a weekend this month.
Leveled my truck 2.5 inch in the front
Then she got new socks and shoes
Also rolled in bed liner, had a little helper.
Not that it pertains to this thread or anything reef related but heres the last pic of my little dude. Future reefer.
Looks like things are growing nicely, in every case. ::
Thanks Jim, I’m pretty happy with how the tank has been doing the past few months things seem to be somewhat happy. Little man is growing really fast as well.haha
Hey guys, looking for opinions on flow patterns. Currently i have 2 tunze nano and 1 mp10 with return pump. Right now i run the tunzes in the back one on each side of the over flow, left side pointing towards the front and right side kinda cuts through the middle. MP10 runs on the right side of the tank straight across the tank.
The question is, would anyone change the flow pattern, or leave it?
I was thinking about putting both tunzes on one side on the back wall and the mp10 on the other side of the over flow, and have 1 tunze point towards the middle and the other point towards the front?
The tank is a cube 24X24.
I would appreciate all opinions cause i think i could improve my sps growth rate with the right flow pattern.
Thanks everyone.
Hey guys, havent done much to the tank lately just letting it roll. I recently switched to a single LED unit from AJM and they are great. Some of my bulbs were out in my maxspect, and got a great deal on AJM with a buddy. They have been on about 2 weeks and i have noticed some grow rates increase already. Needles to say, im happy with them.
LMK what yall think.
Thanks
Casey
