Well, Lindsay and I are starting a new tank… so all is under works right now. We finished up the rock work today and we are very pleased. There are plenty of holes for the fish to swim through, and Lots of places to put coral. We are very excited, and we almost have everything we need to get it underway. We will be drilling the tank and painting the stand on Saturday and we will take some pic’s once we are done that!
I LOVE the rock work!! I’m assuming by the epoxy on the ground that this has been made in to one solid piece of aquascaping?
Looks great! cant wait to see it covered in coral.
Good luck on the build!! nice rock work. Can’t wait to see it fill up.
Thanks guys! Yes sir it is Craig, we want to be able to move it in and out of the tank in one simple lift… which we can now do Eventually this will become a piece to our 180 if it turns out the way we want it.
where did u get that nice dry base rock from ??
It was a live rock that I cleaned up w/ lots of sun and a day of vinegar Some from jakarta and some from vanuatu.
Rock scape looks nice Jared and Lindsey! When are you moving out of the storage locker?
You really work at a LFS, get to see pealing paint all day long and are going to paint the back of your own tank? (And when you know a guy who just bought a whole roll of black vinyl and another couple of guys that are pros at installing the stuff… )
What is the plans for the holes? How many and where?
If you need vinyl installed let me know. I can do it in about 10 minutes. Definitely the better way to go in my opinion.
Looks like you did a great job cleaning the rock up…I’m sure the vinegar helped dissolved any organics…
I used to use muriatic acid diluted 64:1 for the same purpose…but the vinegar is much safer…good idea.
I would love the help with vinyl… that would be awesome! I don’t have a clue as to where I can buy some, but if you would be willing to buy it… and then help installing it that would be amazing! Would you drill before or after the vinyl is in place?
Jon has the vinyl which I am sure he is willing to sell, and I can install it for you at DPA or wherever you have the tank. I would drill the tank prior to vinyl installation.
It will be at DPA, thank you very much! I will talk to Jon tonight to get some of it :). So drill before and then just use a razor blade to cut a hole?

Exactly. I will take care of that for you though.

Yeah that is probably the best way. Just careful when you do cut the hole out. I’ll bring the background in to your 11-4 day job at some point this week.(need to stop by anyways)
Where do you plan to put your drain and will you be using just sort of like a stand pipe or are you going to build an overflow box of some sort? The coast to coast overflows are a great way to go however could be a bit awkward in a 40 breeder unless you wanted to use one of the short sides as the back up against a wall.
If you are going to build some sort of overflow perhaps we could split some black acrylic, I was thinking about picking up a sheet or two for a couple projects I am working on perhaps we could find a way to split a sheet and then borrow saltcreep John’s tools to cut the pieces.

Looks like that is solved. Andy’s the man. Just wish he would post more then once every six months. Andy I thought you were going to send me an e-mail.
Looks awsome! Needs color though.
Welcome to the board tgifdives! If you have some time make a new thread, introduce yourself, and tells us abit about your tank or plans for a tank. Always good to meet new reefers. Again welcome.

Well thank you Jon! I am working at posting more and getting my system back on point. Still working on that list… will get it to you soon.
Andy thank you again I really do appreciate it, and I didn’t even know that was you until Jon told me at the meeting LOL. How are things going?
