Sorry to hear. What kind of warranty does the place you got them from have? That’s weird it died and no pinched belly or signs of disease.
I am debating placing a order on live aquaria they have some wrasses I like and I need to get a cuc. They have a 14 day warranty and from what I was reading a good quarantine system.
Also… my cleaner shrimp had a hard time molting the other day. I had to help him out of the molt as he was blowing around the tank and being attacked by shrimp. I hope he is still alive… is it normal for them to hide for a few days after molting?
Ok good. I think that’s the first time he’s molted since I added him. I did a water change a week ago, and have been pretty religious about my bi-weekly 12.5% water changes with reef crystals so Iodine should be good.
Thanks guys. I was a little worried when he looked dead after molting, but disappeared when I turned around for a minute. Didn’t get to see him move, but he’s still mia so I hope he’s alive somewhere. There must be a spot in my live rock where creatures hide that I can’t see them
Check after lights out. That’s when my shrimp is most active.
I checked before I left for work and didn’t see him. Even ghost fed the tank earlier, which usually gets his attention and he didn’t emerge. I think tomorrow I’m going to just bite the bullet and move the leopard wrasse to the DT. She got a round of prazi, but has yet to eat. She just swims up and down in the corner of the QT during the day and doesn’t reliably find the sand container to sleep in. Sometimes she sleeps sideways on the glass bottom. Considering she will still be the only fish in the DT for like three more weeks while the other two are in the smaller QT… it’s still kind of a QT considering she’s alone ??? But there’s pods easily accessible in the main tank as well as a more natural environment. I did a lot of reading and quite a few people are against QT of these wrasses since they are delicate and have reported much better survival rates after making the change.
Added the Leopard Wrasse to the DT since it was sitting fallow and there was plenty of copepods in there… It’s been 8 weeks and the confidence interval is 97% at six weeks for the ich being gone. She went through a round of prazipro yesterday before I added her this morning, so she got de-wormed at least. As soon as I added her, she began picking at the rock eating copepods! First food she’s eaten since she arrived on Tuesday. Glad to see she’s finally going to be happy. Worse comes to worse, she’s the only fish in the DT so if there is an issue I can still deal with it.
It’s a tough call. For what it is worth, I would have done the same. When the choice is between losing the fish in QT and the chance of having to repeat your fallowing, that’s an easy choice.
I’m just happy I got her through a round of prazi first at least. They’re known to have thick slime coats and since they bury in the sand, less likely to get Ich. Of course I just made her happy and noticed what looked an awful lot like a montipora eating nudibranch on the glass… hoping she eats them all
Looking good, she should have that tank cleaned up soon, nudibranches, flatworms, pretty much anything that resembles a bug or worm.
As she gets bigger she may take out smaller hermits and snails.
Not sure why but my ornate Wrasse, killed all of the Scarlett hermits, but not the others.
How bou dat. I am in need of scarlets My softie tank is growing that green stuff really well
I didn’t know wrasses bother hermits thought they went for the much smaller stuff only.
Hahahaha, I posted about the leopard wrasse on R2R and it has degraded to the point of people questioning what type of leopard wrasse it even is slap-stick
Evolved hasn’t been on in a while. Eat breakfast said my wrasse is transitioning from female to male.
