It’s eating and you like it. All that matters at this point :). I’m waiting for black Friday or cyber Monday for my orders.

Indeed!
I moved my green slimer this morning. I think it was getting too much flow. I had just moved my MP40s to the end of the tank instead of the back and it was getting blasted by the MP40. The guys on R2R are pretty insistent that I get the fish to eat frozen foods for long term survival as they worry about her/him running out of pods. I’m going to swing by greenbank and get some blackworms to try since thats what they suggest to get her started. What are you looking to order on black friday? I think I’m pretty set. Only thing I would consider would be some lighting, but I get about 200 PAR at 6" and and like 130 PAR at 12". Do you think that’s sufficient when I have a long photoperiod? My lights are on ramping up, peak, and ramping down for 12 hours of the day.
Still have’t seen my shrimp either! verdict_in
Since you introduced the Wrasse?
Haven’t seen him since that day he molted. He looked like he was struggling to molt. He was flying around the aquarium while trying to wiggle out. I ended up helping him get our and he didn’t move when I tried to help him. He disappeared since then. I don’t know if he just had a bad molt and died and got eaten or what.
Missing shrimp could be a few things. If it had a bad molt they will hide for extra time if they survive it. Or with the new fish it could be hiding.
Ime green slimer is happy with medium to moderate flow. If it loses ita bright green then it needs to be placed higher. Unless you’re going with crazy sps those par numbers should do you fine. I would think the slimer would like to be somewhere in the 200 par range.
As for the wrasse I would want it to atleast eat the spirulina brine and mysis. My long nose hawk will only eat frozen foods so just to make sure he eats well I’ll thaw it in a small cup with tank water and slowly add it in the tank. My wrasses eat anything I put in the tank.
I hope he survived the molt. I moved the green slimer down some today because I think it was getting too much flow. It’s starting to open back up again. The shrimp has been hiding since before the fish was introduced… if he’s still alive. I got some of the blackworms from greenbank to try but she went to bed as I got home… in the sand for the evening. I’ll try to feed her blackworms in the morning.
Still no cleaner shrimp sighting. Got blackworms to try feeding to the wrasse. She’s still not interested. I’ll keep trying with the blackworms until she eats. Put her through a second round of prazi in the DT with no problems there. She’s still happily picking at the rockwork for pods so I’m not too stressed about her not eating prepared foods, but hoping she starts eventually. Still no sighting of the cleaner shrimp unfortunately. Dosed CP prophylaxis dose in QT for butterfly and goby who both seem quite happy still. Still not sure whats going on with this monti cap, after I saw that one nudibranch, I pulled it, and dipped it… got nothing off. Seems like the white is continuing to spread though
Prazi will reduce their appetite.
Right, I know prazi can suppress appetite. She wasn’t eating prepared foods before, and still continues to refuse even the blackworms. I removed the prazi with carbon after 24 hours since I know wrasses can be finnicky with it. She eats (and was eating well during the PP) from the rockwork, but nothing prepared. The yellow butterfly eats like a pig, and I think the goby has been eating too. The goby hides under a piece of PVC and basically never leaves there, I would assume after ten days if he wasn’t eating anything at all, he would be looking a little thin and he looks fine. The PP in the DT didn’t make any problems that I can tell, still see pods on the glasswork, corals looked fine, feather dusters/worms and everything else seemed ok too
Monti caps are sensitive to a lot of things. Sometimes they act as a early warning device that your parameters are off. Alk, nitrate, phosphates. Regular caps I think are more forgiving then setosa if that’s the frag you got from me awhile back
I checked everything last night. pH was 7.8 Alk was 8 Ca 500 Phos 0 Nitrate ~0 SG 1.026 and Temp 78. My nutrients cannot truly be zero considering I still have some algae growth. What else could cause problems?
If anything, the setosa seems happier than the cap pictured above!
Seems normal except the high calcium. As for the 0 nitrates and phosphates the algae could be pulling it out of the water column to fast for the corals or your test kit to absorb or read it. Another thing I’ve heard is if your magnesium is low even with a ulns you are more prone to algae. Many articles of guys dosing magnesium mostly for this purpose.
Do your research before doing anything as you seem to be doing.

I agree with Just Some Guy, if you have algae, then your nitrate and phos levels aren’t at zero. And I believe that the ph could be a little higher.
Just my :TWOCENTS but see if you can remove the rocks with any algae on them.
what is your feeding routine?
how often do you do water changes?
what brand salt do you use?
Are you consistently at 7.8PH? How are you measuring it? Dipping under 8 is fine, but staying there is not something you want. Have you tried doing the bubble test to see if you have high indoor CO2?
I was ghost feeding the tank a couple times a day while fallow and now have been feeding daily to try and get the wrasse to eat. Use reef crystals for my salt. Biweekly 10G water changes. I just used the API high range PH test to measure it yesterday. Didn’t consider that an issue until you mentioned it. And I’ve never heard of the bubble test :SURRENDER
Might be worth taking some tank water to the lfs or to someone else that has other test kits to rule out your test kit.
Brs just had a sale I think today only on Hanna checkers. I just picked up ultra low phosphate , calc, dkh, 2 triton test kits and calibration fluid for my refracometer and apex salinity probe.
Are you dosing at all? 500 calcium with no dosing does not sound right at all so a bad batch of test equipment is very possible.
