Hi everyone! My name is Richard. I’m currently living in Arizona but my wife and I are planning on moving our little family (2 young children) out to Delaware as soon as possible. I’ve been active in reefkeeping for going on 3 years. My most recent tank was a 20 gallon long mixed reef that I just took down to begin preparing to move. Here’s how it looked before I sold everything:
Just recently was given a 75 gallon tank (going to try to move it with me) that I’m going to set up as a bare-bottomed SPS reef! So excited about that! Anyways, saw the club and wanted to post and get to know people here. I unfortunately haven’t found a job in Delaware yet. Job-hunting like crazy but it’s definately hard to do when your so far away. I’ll become a very active member once I get myself out that way. Anyone know of anyone hiring for IT positions there?
Welcome to the club. Hopefully you’ll find something and get out here sooner than later. My little brother lives in Az. much too hot for me. I like winter too much to live out there.
Tank looked nice, you’ll love having the extra space in a 75.
Welcome! thats got to be a distance record for planning to join the Club. You will get here in time for spring. as for jobs, you could used the local paper online job search for Wilmington, or other parts of De. or try area code 19720, for others. Thats new Castle. the one i know, Northern De.

There are TONS of IT jobs out here. Look for Bank of America, Discover Bank, ING Direct, and a few others that I cant think of right now but go onto Delawareonline.com to search jobs and I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for. Good Luck!
Al beat me to it I was just going to recommend checking out all the hospitals in the state. One thing to keep in mind when you move both for the job search and as you begin to check out the LFS. We’re a small state and there is no customs boarder to cross to get into MD, PA, or NJ. Don’t be afraid to check outside the state a little bit. Many of us including some that have made posts in hear already often shop and work outside the state.

Yeah, I really want to get out of here before summer kicks in. It’s already getting up to about 85 degrees during the day here. In July and August every day will be between 100 - 105 degrees! I’ve lived out that way before and absolutely LOVED it. From 2001 to 2003 I lived in Maryland. Been wanting to move back east again ever since.
It seems that University of Delaware, Christiana Healthcare system, and some odd-end companies are hiring for IT’s right now. I’m pretty sure that some banks are rennovating their systems, so some contract work may be available. Engineering firms are a no-go right now until things pick back up in the local economy.

Alright, all moved in. Last week was busy, busy, busy. We packed our stuff into a u-haul trailer and our 2 kids into the SUV and drove all week. Got to town on Friday, spend the weekend getting settled in and it’s looking like we’re about set. Gotta say I love the weather right now compared to where I came from. AZ is up into the 90s right now and since we got here Friday, every day has been in the low 70s at the highest. Got my whole 75 gallon setup moved over just fine as well. Was a bit worried I gotta say carrying a 75 gallon glass tank in the back of a u-haul with all our stuff across the entire country from AZ to DE but it came through excellent. Probably going to have to wait to set it up till I actually secure a good job here for sure but definately am excited about it. Definately planning on coming to the next meeting.
