Thanks Ken.
I will post pics of the Pearlberry and new LED fixture over my frag tank later today. ::
Thanks Ken.
I will post pics of the Pearlberry and new LED fixture over my frag tank later today. ::
Looks like a real nice light John, so how many are you gonna get?
Bill, I have just the one. If I think I will need another for the frag tank, I will get one more.
Here is are 2 pics of it over my frag tank.
Hey Ken, here are 2 pics of your Pearlberry in my tank.
John, how high is that hung above the tank? and what is the dimension of the tank?
A, the fixture is 13" above the water. The tank measures 48" x 24" x 12 " high.
Oh WOW John! The PB frag i gave you is growing faster than mine. im sure. i’ve seen earlier pics of it in progress with great colors. your lights, and biological system are doing good. and im pretty sure you have pruned it a few times for frags since then too. your tanks are doing great!
I still got to get down there again and check em out , again. It’s been a while, since our last club trip to Dr. Macs!!
Good job!!
Thanks Ken, :BEER
I have fragged it already, in fact, one is for sale at Pacific East Aquaculture under “other farmers” z<>z
Excellent, Farmer John. They look good!
The pic on PE’s site does the PB no justice #@$^
not like your pics John ::
usually their pics are great, maybe just stress or lighting diff’s
John, how do you think two of these lights would cover 6ft of tank?
and does anyone have an opinion if only two leds of 420 are adequate? or would they need more supplementing?
you might want to wait on some test of those leds before jumping on them John, They are great for frag tanks but they are driving 3.3 watt emiters at 2.1 watts so will not have the punch to get down 20+ inches.
The 2 UV is about normal for what is being added to high end units now. I have 12 will be taking that down to 6 with my new arangement.
one of the light companies I follow and have a lttle faith in have a new post up on spectrum, of course they are plugging their products the info is sound.

If I was going to use these lights on a 6fter , I would probably use 3 of them. IMO.
Thanks Frank, that was a good read. and thanks for the input John
Im really interested in this unit anyone else maybe we could get a few people to.purchase so we could get it.down.to. 155
Wow, i hung my raffle light today and its nice.
The bottom of the light is about 9’’ off the water surface. thats as high as it could be mounted in my canopy (the fixture needs 2 1/2 inches of clearance minimum above the unit for the electric plugs)
the sides of the 36’’ wide tank were pretty shaded so i added back two bars of t5 to even it out.
matt and i are gonna swap fixtures to see how the optics/ no optics fixtures perform for bigger vs smaller tanks…
… these optics are overkill for my 30g ( par at max lighting setting and the probe @ 10 inches below water was around 1000 par…whoa… i’m hoping no optics will give me a better spread, and i’m sure the par will still be ok, and i can move the light down at least 3 - 4 more inches if i need to. If Matt doesnt want the optic fixture then i’m going to take these off…
2 of these units(with optics) per 3 to 4ft of tank would be perfect imo… i’ll update what the spread looks like optic-less when i find out…
the color pop is absolutely incredible… my blasto’s look insane :: now i’ve got to get some acans under these lights >IDEA<
John I can’t wait to see a picture. I talked to Andrew and he said he uses Elmer’s glue to attach the optics. John (hb) made the comment last night that the glue looked like Elmer’s so he was correct. Whenever you want to trade for a day let me know. Maybe next week after the holiday? Ill try to get some pics of my fixture up here soon. Happy your enjoying the light.
Thanks Matt :: just say when, if you wait too long i may attack these lenses since its only elmer to battle ::
just took a few quick pics…
easy mounting, bought 4 “j” hooks… everything else came with… it took 5 mins tops
mounted about 9’’ off the water
with t5’s
only led
Matt brought his light over today (no optics) and it only took a second to figure out which looked better. we also tested par, and at about 9’’ off the water the light still has amazing par at only 3/4 power…
MUCH MUCH MUCH better light spread and color mixing (no spotting).
the optics were easy to remove… 8 screws to split the casing, unplug two connectors, then remove 4 screws that hold the led/heatsink panel. then it was just an easy twist to pop off each optic…
Wow that’s great. Did you record the par readings? Could you post a pic with the fixture over your tank without the optics.
Thanks
I was gonna ask the same questions.
Sure guys, i’ll get to a pic of that. and John, i thought of u right away and your frag tank spread…
