Oct. Meeting - DIY anemone zapper SIGN UPS

Well, I hope everybody else is as excited about Octobers meeting as I am. For those of you who don’t know, at the next meeting on Oct. 21st I will be leading/supervising a DIY build session where anybody interested can build their own anemone zapper. These are HANDS DOWN the best tool for removing pest anemones and controlling invasive corals. You can check our my build thread below for more info as well as a video demonstration (not my video fyi). The cost should be around $15-17 for everything you will need, but there is some talk about the club subsidizing some or all of it. Post up if your interested! Remember you have to be at the meeting to make one.

Soldering Iron
Hot glue gun/glue
Heat gun
Wire strippers

I’m in and I can bring hot glue gun and glue.

I can bring a soldiering iron and at least one glue gun

I am in. I’ll bring:

2x soldering guns
Solder (I have .032", .062"…we’ll probably only need the .032", and I have alot of it to rip off and share.)
1x Heat gun
1x wire cutters…aka, wire strippers :D…or you could just use your teeth :GEEK:
I have a couple glue guns and glue too.

I can also assist/teach anyone unfamiliar with soldering. So dont NOT do it just because you dont know how to solder.

I also have a “craft mat”, others might want to bring something to put under their working surface so we dont melt/burn holes in the caffateria tables.

I can bring some extension cords…anyone have a powerstrip(s) that they’re not using?

BN, do you have Lowes/Depot/Radio Shack part numbers for the stuff we need to pickup? I’m not sure where to get the graphite cathode/titanium or stainless anode, hollow rod, ect. Typical length, and what gauge wire will we need?

Is it Tuesday yet? Here’s a visual of what I’ll be bringing…all ready to go. Now I just need some majanos??

Please note that our meeetings are held on MONDAY nights.

Funny, I had looked at the 2012-13 Meeting schedule and saw Oct. 15th, realized that Monday was a holiday for some “Columbus Day”, and figured Tuesday made sense. Then I went back after your post Craig and realized that was for 2012. /facepalm.

Faralon, that looks perfect! Just bring that and we should be good to go on equipment. You might end up running the soldering station depending on how things go if that’s cool with you.

Totally fine with running any/all soldering if you need it.

I’m in too, looking forward to building a zapper.

I can bring a good soldering iron and some solder, and show/help anyone that needs it for soldering.

I am definately in. I have been waiting so long to fry stuff!!! :-)### I need to see what Ican find but know I got stuff we can use.

I got all the parts n this week and will b building a practice one today. Assuming all goes well we should b g2g.

 I am not sure I will be there had a small emergency room visit yesterday , gonna do my best providing I feel ok.

I was interested in doing this but not sure I would be able to make it up to the meeting. I also didnt get any of the material together.

I have all the materials and supplies so nobody needs to worry about that. I will need additional tools and equipment so if u said you were going to bring something please bring it just in case. I will be bringing all my tools and soldering equipment as well. What i really need is a heat gun, grounded extension cords, and a power strip.
