this build is for my big tank the 220 gallon Perfecto with a 75 gal Sump.
I bought this tank last year from a member of my club NJRC… I drove almost 3 hours one way to North Jersey with my old chevy and 8 foot bed to pick up a stand canopy and 6 foot tank. Let me tell you it barely fit!
I got this tank because i just had gotten into the hobby and thought how sweet it would be to have a big tank like my brother use to have which was a 365. Up came the for sale add and i went ahead and bought it. Myself and my brother carried this tank down the basement steps and lemme tell you this sucker was HEAVY!
The stand was tall and the canopy would barley fit in the basement so we took the stand apart and cut it down. this is a homemade stand using 2x4 and 2x6’s along with pine.
the stand and canopy in pieces from the long trip with the tank riding on top of it.
the returns are 1" pvc T’d at the top and then two Loc-Lines with flow spreaders. I decided that i wanted to keep as much as i could out of the DT so i stuck my 250W stealth heaters in the overflows and it works great. the other is in the sump.
This was my original sump a 29 gallon tank i got from a local reefer… it was ok but lacking
Currently for lighting I am using 72" VHO’s one pure actinic and one Aqua Sun 10k off an Ice Cap 430 Ballast with stand off caps
My return pump is a MAG18 with a flow around 1300GPH tied to the dual returns with 1.5" pvc… The drains are 2" pvc that are independent of each other with ball valves on each end. I am using a 75RR as a sump with one baffle set at 10" for my skimmer and i have to add a second one soon…
a partial picture of the sump.
Im using a MSX 250 Skimmer thats running Dual Sicces with the Pin Wheels installed. it is great and pulls a ton of crud
crappy cell pic
I’m also using a TLF Phosban Reactor for my Carbon filtration and am soon to purchase another as they are only rated for 150gals
This is a Right to left and a left to right picture with two pieces of Lace rock and 250lbs of Fine Grain sand

sorry i hate the way photobucket changed their site… Fixed ! :GEEK: abcd
The tank was built using 3/4" glass so i had to decide on a glass cleaning solution. i went ahead and got a mag float 350 mostly due to its price and it has been working out nice i very rarely have it beak loose when cleaning. I’m running a Koralia Magnum 6 on one side of the tank and soon to add another.
I recently picked up 55 lbs of Fiji from The Aquarium Center http://www.aquariumcenter.biz/store/ and added it to the tank. The Sailfin that I helped get fat again is living in the tank as well as alot of hermits and snails, 1 serpant star,2 pep shrimp and 2 tiny hippos. and one cleaner shrimp ~maybe~ havent seen it in a while.
I’ll try and get some pics tonight now that the tank is nice and clear
Some more recent Pics. I added a couple pieces of Lace Rock,50lbs of Marco Rock along with some Totonka and Tonga.

cleaning and cutting seems to be my thing here lately!!! so right up my alley. lol whatcha want for it??
wanted to update this i haven’t done much lately besides a little TLC here and there… added 2 400watt SE MH’s and it made alot of difference. I’ve got a blue background to put on and getting ready to add rock/rescape. Then get a 100gal stock tank plumbed in and put the 75rr up on a stand as a full fuge with mangroves. only thing is I’m kicking myself for using the oolite sand, the goby kicks it up with every mouthful.
I have one Koralia Mag 6 and a Maxi Jet 1200 with algae free mod (eco mod). getting ready to buy two more maxis and mod kits with a natural sea wavemaker till i buy a RKE setup. Other than that we’re getting ready for 12days in Negril Jamaica so money’s tight.
a few pics.
probably guna have a sailfin for sale soon too… fat and happy.
Sleeper goby
Couple corals that made it in so far.
group shot with the 3 new baby Oc. Clowns from Chris n barb
Time for an update before a big change this weekend. Me and my brother are going to completely redo the rock work and add more rock, put the 75RR on a stand of it’s own and i’m going to plumb it all in with a 100gal stock tank ( so far) Smiley This will give me a Full 75RR fuge to keep mangroves and whatever else i want. also no more bumping my head for the skimmer. the new sump is a 100gal rubbermaid stock tank and i’m gunna use a mag18 and a mag 5. the 18 will feed the main tank after going through a 1"SCWD and the 5 will feed the fuge.
but some progress shots. Corals haven’t made it down there too much because i knew that i needed more rock (200lbs or so looks tiny). I’m also kicking myself in the butt for using the Fine oolite sand… The sleeper goby is making a mess, i even had a filter sock overflow… on with the pics!
I’ll have a SailFin Tang nice and Fat for sale here soon as well.
Group shot. 3 baby Oc. Clowns with a larger Oc. Clown
after removing all 250+ lbs i got it kinda how i wanted it but still need plenty more rock… started putting some corals in the tank… everythings on hold till the middle of august when we get back from Jamaica .
