I also have no expierence dumping bleach in my tank. I still wouldn’t do it just to try. What I’m saying is untill they can say why purple up can speed up corraline growth, I wont use it. Like I said before, I refulse to put anything in my tank that doesn’t have a complete list of whats in it… wether it is a supplement, a food, or anything else. Untill they can show me how their product biolocially speeds up the growth of coralline (ie. what processes it fills it speeds up and how) I wont buy it. The reason I say its snake oil is because they wont list what is in it and in what concentrations (at least on the last bottle I checked).

Icy- There is a difference between saying why you won’t use it and someone trashing a product that they have no experience with. I understand you not wanting to use it without knowing the contents. I don’t understand ANYONE saying it won’t work without knowing the contents. I agree that you should know what goes into your tank. All I’m saying is just because you don’t know what is in this product, does not make it snake oil.
Why would they not list ingredients? Because they’re trying to sell a product that does the same thing as a less expensive product. Remember when “southdown” sand came off the market? If it ever came out that Instant Ocean was really ground up water softener salt (not that it is) do you think people would still buy it? Or just buy a grinder? How much do you think additive sales dropped off when people realized ice melter does the same thing?
Is PurpleUp economically advisable? No. Does it make rocks turn purple faster? Yes.

No purple up at the meeting!!.. glad i held off on buying it… lol
Bill said he’s got purple up and the tanks for the side by side test, but what about the members that are gonna use it and document it in their display tanks??? With 5 pages of arguments about this, and a whole case of product, i thought we’d get everyone going, not to mention the company was nice enough to send it: so it’ll reflect poorly on the club if it just sits and collects dust. And i don’t want to be just complaining on this forum, so if there is anything i can do to help out, i know everyones busy… just let me know
Whom ever tests it needs to keep both tanks calcium identical as well as alkalinity.
The test is about acceleration of growth, not that it can grow.
It’ll grow with or without purple up.

John there will be some to test and I will get that to who was suppose to get it I just said that with the little nano cubes there will be a bottle with them as well. I ran out of time and didn’t get home in time and get food and everything else that needed to be done.
Hey, he said he would distribute it just give them some time to figure everything out…
I would like a bottle, I will document my results with pictures. I wouldn’t plan on doing a side-by-side comparison, but would do a before/after type thing.

Sorry if that came across with attitude… I just don’t want anyone assuming anything, like new guy in a hurry to get free stuff. Call me corny, but i was excited to do the purple thing in my dt and document it, as well as being excited to be a member of the club, do a project, and share w/ people that care. So it was dissappointing, and for my expirement, i needed no preparation, just product and then test, document, photo.
