Whats a good brand of t-5?
right now its for a 36" wide tank 20" deep
go retrofit or ati. icecap has something new out but it is pricey. aquactinics is good also. I have a nova extreme pro, cheap yet cheap quality. tek has good reflectors, and if u throw 2 fans in it is a good fixture. ATI sunpower is a GREAT fixture at aGREATprice.
i haven’t had a problem with my aquatic life T5HO fixture i purchased from DPA. the lighting system even comes with built in timers.

I agree. The ATI sunpower is a great fixture. I am using it over my 45g and I love it.
tax time thats gonna be my belated xmass/birthday present for myself 
i want a 10x54 powermodule but thats overkill for a 90. i guess the sunpower will do.
you have to love free money… i take pictures of my gf horse show team… and for the final event they collected 200 bucks for me… woot …

is a 6 bulb over kill?
they dont make 6’ T5 bulbs. at least not for the hobby.

It really depends on what you plan on keeping. I am using a 6 buld fixture on my 24" wide tank and it is working out fine. I have mostly lps, softies and clams. I only run all 6 of the bulbs for 5 hours and the other 5 hours are just 2 bulbs. I use ATI blue + and ATI aquablue special with a fiji purple thrown in to bring out the reds and pinks.
Ellen - i use the same two ATI bulbs. what do you think of the KZ fiji purple? Ive heard a lot of amazing things about it and was thinking about picking up a couple for my 265g.

i think ill do the same thing as you ellen… but my tank is only 12" wide so i think i might just dothe 4 bulb…

i have used the ati procolor(disc) fiji purple and uvl 75/25. heres my ratings on them

for some reason the fiji purple didnt do it for me, it was “fake” looking. the procolor was nice if u can still get one, the uvl has nice par, and the same pink color.
i guess everyones taste are different. i definitley get what you mean about the “fake” look, for me T5’s in general look fake compared to MH. personally, i dont like any of the UVL bulbs. i have two of the 75/25s on one of my frag tanks now and hate the way they look. i like ATI first, Geismann second and im on the fence about trying the KZ bulb.

Btw if u dont like the 75/25 u wont like the procolor or fiji purple, probably. they have the pinkish hue to them.
thats good to know, because thats exactly why i dont like the 75.25s. VERY pink IMO even after they burn in.

I like the fiji purple because it has great par almost as much as a ATI blue+. I think it looks good with the mixture of 3 blue + 2 blue specials and the fiji. If I was running less then 6 bulbs I probably wouldn’t use it.
