TB Aquatics Procedures

Figured I’d mention how we pack and ship fish.

When we receive an order here’s our procedure.

  1. We contact the customer and confirm the order and ensure the customer has the proper tank, flow, lighting, etc for the animals purchased.
  2. If possible we skip a day or two of feeding, so it is better if you order a few days before you want it shipped.
  3. As close to shipping time as possible, we bag the animals (corals are floated upside down with Styrofoam if appropriate) in 3 mil bag and fill the the airspace with pure oxygen. We then double bag the item. Finally a third safety bag is used just in case.
  4. We box it in a Styrofoam cooler and use heat packs or cool packs as appropriate.
  5. We drop the package off as late as possible to the shipper to limit the time the animal is in the box.

All our animals have at the minimum a live arrival guarantee and most have a 5 day stay alive guarantee.

Those who have ordered from us know we stay in contact with you throughout the entire process and in the rare case an issue arises we take care of you. You will not be disappointed. We were customers and hobbyists long before we were a vendor and treat everyone how we would want to be treated.

Thanks Bill,

My tank is a 65 by the way. I had her do 10 gal of RO water, 2 5-g bag, let it age for a day, then add the two bags of Calcium and wait another day before adding it to the tank. Is this ok?

NO…The calcium does not go into the salt. You have to mix the calcium seperate in RO water and add it to a high flow area in the sump after you do your water change. I would only do a 5 gallon per week change. I have a 75 and I do 5 gallons every week. Make sure you have her read the directions on the salt it tells you to mix the calcium in RO water and add it to the tank after you change out the water. If she has any questions she can call me or Garry we would both be willing to help.

WOW! Thanks Bill. Ok, I don’t have a sump, just the DT, so can I add it to the tank?

Add it to the tank in an area of high flow. And add it slow to give it a chance to mix up. What are the details of your tank? Do you just have a hang on back filter? Did you wife tell you the tank got real cloudy? That is what will happen by adding the calcium to the new mixing salt water.

No, I hve a conister filter and HOB Skimmer (Remora C). She did two water changes before without adding the Calcium. This time she add the calcium to the mixing tank after one day of adding the salt to it. Yes, the tank was cloudy for a day. After it cleared, she add the water to the DT.

OK well hopefully we have you squared away. If you have any more questions/concerns anything please ask. So how are things in Iraq?

The Fam and I are going to Beaches, Negril on Thursday. Anyone been? Any must see’s in Jamaica? This is general saltwater related, right?

I have been to Couple’s in Negril - gorgeous reefs for snorkeling.

On a side note - the fam and I are leaving for Beaches Boscobel on Sunday O0 ya mon!!

Lucky SOBs. Steph and I are going to Rehoboth beach at some point this summer! >LOCO< Ocean you’ve seen the sandy white beaches and clear waters of the Caribbean things around here just don’t hack it any more.

I haven’t been to a delawrae beach in 10 years. not since I took my honeymoon in Jamaica and learned what sand is supposed to feel like, and realized that there is nothing wrong with being able to see your feet when you stand in 2 inches of water.

I swear I didn’t even know ocean water was supposed to be blue until that trip.

I have really wondered why kids learning to draw still color water blue when it is likely they have never seen blue water…

well i cant get to white sandy beaches so look at picture of last sunday. this was lewes beach. i caught this manta ray and had friend take photo
i try to go to beach every other weekend. anyone else have surf tag on here besides mech0255?

So how was Beaches in Negril?

The kids had a blast in Boscobel, we already booked our trip for next year. it was definitely different then the adults only Jamaican vacation we usually take, but was still a lot of fun.

I was very disappointed in the reef sites they took us snorkeling, we have much nicer and prettier corals in our tanks at home, but I guess that’s what happens when you can hand pick your specimens and don’t have to rely on the tides for expansion. The Ocho Rios side was mainly sponges, brain corals, and urchins. None of the big pretty show fish I saw last time I was there. There were some nice tangs, and a some damsels a one really cool eel, but that was about it.

Definitely made me appreciate my tank at home. now I just wish it was bigger, I could sure go for a 200,000g tank ;D
