Waterbox REEF 130.4 build thread

The only benefit to connecting wave makes to the apex is you can set a feed mode that kills the wave makers and circulation pump for a set time so your corals/fish get a chance to be spot or broadcast fed. I still use the seperate app for modes but I have the power strip set so the wave makers are depedant on the pump on/off. Hope this makes sense.

The other nice thing of keeping them separate is redundancy. If one thing goes out, hopefully the other is still working.

Looks very sharp and clean. Similarly to your idea I run anything I consider core / life support (heaters, return pump, skimmer) on the Apex 832B and everything else (dosing pumps, some of the circulation pumps, reactors) is split out. It has worked well for me.

This is what the basic layout looked like before plugging everything in.

This is what it looks like for now in the cabinet. The power strip sitting on the floor of the cabinet is the gear not hooked up to the apex like the AI pumps and lights. It still looks messy in there sigh but I’ll keep working on it.

The clownfish finally moved back in to their toadstool after being relocated to the Waterbox 130.4

I used a wifi power strip from Amazon for the things not connected to the apex. I mounted it on my controller board under my eb832.

Took me forever to get all the wires tidied up and looking somewhat presentable…its a marathon not a sprint. Lol

Agree - wire management is ongoing but yours looks good.

I label all plugs and both ends of any extension cords with a label maker. I have roughly 30 black wires going to something under my tank. The labels have saved me lots of time chasing wires. My wires don’t look like an art display but I can find the plug for any piece of equipment in less than a minute.

This is option ‘A’ for some of the Neptune gear. I’m kinda nervous of the kids bumping into it so I think I’m going to order a small cabinet with doors.

Option B was an inexpensive white floor cabinet that I sanded and spray painted matte black to match the cabinet.

Looks nice and tidy. In the long run you’ll be glad you took the extra effort to have the doors.

Well, it turns out that keeping the trident in the side cabinet is not practical for me as far as linking it to sump and apex. I moved it to small space under cabinet.

My project this weekend is getting this BRS Jumbo sized CO2 scrubber set up to raise my pH. I’ll
post a picture after it’s mounted in the cabinet.

You should see a difference overnight in your ph but don’t expect huge gains.

As in not worth it?

Looks like I’m going to have to return it. Won’t fit under cabinet and I think it will be too far from the skimmer if I set it on floor. :frowning:

My ph rose from 7.57 to 8.10 and held there consistently, But I burnt through media very quickly.

My media would change color in 3 to 4 days

His many system gallons and how big was the scrubber?

I have one on my skimmer and PH never changed. Has been there for six months and no change in color. Remember to keep a small amount of water in the canister so the media does not dry out.
