225 GALLON (slow) TANK BUILD
Just moniter the clam A, I’ve had them survive without them but they seem to die more then survive when the gland comes out.

Did the deep water acro I got ya survive? I can get ya another piece if if didnt make it.

I lost just about every SPS when I changed tanks, it sucks but sometimes starting over is a good thing just makes ya try harder.
Well, looks like the clam will not make it. It will now become snail food. Bill, the deep water acro did not make it either. I would appreciated if I can get another one from you. It was doing so well too. I know what you mean about loosing most of the corals. I hope starting new will be better for me as well. Thanks Bill.

The Tank is looking good A. Looks like you did have some crash survivors, or where those corals already in the main tank and not in the temp tank that crashed. let us know when you think the new tank system is ready to get new frags. and I’ll give you some choices of frags i can replace.
Thanks Ken. Those were attached to rocks so, I moved them into the new tank as part of the on going aquascape and also, since there was no room in the temp tank. Thank goodness I did it otherwise I would have lost everything. Also, thanks again. Those that I got from you before were doing good as well, now all gone. I’m gonna have to stop by and see you again.

Well that sucks about the clam, sorry. Yeah was pretty pissed about my acros but thats the way it goes, alot of them I was able to replace except the rose acro I got from Dr Mac. Well on the bright side got alot of arm media for my reactor verdict_in

No problem on the acro, I'll get ya a replacement

You have a pic of that rose acro? is it pink mili type acro? I might have it, but right now its brown. I have to wait till the tank is really up and running and it gets its color back.

I looked I really dont have any decent pics

here is what it looked like not my picture but about as close as I could find. Mine was a little more red. Was not a milli was a smooth skin.

Looks almost like red dragon acro. Would like to see what a colony looks like.

That’s as close to the color I could find and mine had more branches.

22 Feb 2013 225g (slow) Tank Build Update:

Little update on the progress. Most of the aqua scape, gluing plugs and frags are done…of what was left and what was donated (thanks Jim (Downbeach), Jason(beadlocked450r), Mike (Fish Bowl) and soon John (houndsbayman) Lots of room left for more acros…time to shop around.

Now and soon the tank will be on cruise control. Adding supplements and maintaining water parameter.

Here FTS and other pics:

Looks real nice A

No more problems ??

Thanks Bill. I guess I can’t really say there’s no problem. The tank, water, animals are well. Part of my lighting in the back (can’t really tell in the pic) just crapped out, the whites. I don’t have any back up chip laying around, have to order some more.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Either I’m over powering the chips with the meanwell drivers or I’m running too many on one driver. I followed the instruction that the kit came with, but apparently I’m doing something wrong. If this continues I may just go straight fixtures, but that will be down the line due to funds. That’s why I was asking Will this morning about the fixture that he is selling.

Tank is coming around. In the beginning, :BB) there is always things that have to be tweaked or adjusted for the proper settings. Your in the big leagues now A YahoO, and doing a really nice job. Keep up the good work. ::thumbsup::

A you have a couple of your lights in parallel right ?
If so do you have a fuse on each string ?

If your going to be at the meeting we can talk in some more detail about what you have and how to make it more stable while speanding the least amount of cash.

Yes, my lights are in parallel. I don’t know what fuses you’re talking about. Didn’t know I need or can put a fuse in line.

Guess ill learn more from you later. Thanks

Yep you need an inline fuse for each string.
If you have an emiter fail in the open position your other string will get the combined mA and blow all the emiters on that string if they can’t handle it.

This is what you want your strings to look like, I don’t use the resitors but some people like them but as they take the place of a 5w emiter I would rather have the emiter.

OK. So, I can get these at radio shack? or where? and run them on each line of the pos and one neg?

I got frags for “A” - Man! made you a few replacements for the ones that went belly up in the holding tank. i’ll bring em monday.

Oh, i made a little mod to my TLF reactor similar to yours, to better churn the bio pellets. i just got a piece of 1/2 thinwall clear pvc tubing from DPA, and replaced the lower section with that. seems to work good. i need to shorten it a half inch more though. its dragging on he bottom right now. standing a little crooked.

Yep A they can be bought at Radio Shack, both the fuse holders and fuses, you run them to the positive of each string.

So if your positive from the driver spits to two strings you just splice the fuse holder into each of those strings before the first emiter. you want a 1A or 1000mA fast blow fuse for each and maybe a couple spares.

Let me know how many strings you have on each driver and I can pick up what you need and bring it Monday for you if you want.

Thank you Ken, greatly appreciated and looking forward for it :BEER ::thumbsup:: As for the reactor. I think it runs better with this mod on it. The flow don’t get clog on the screen and it continue to tumble the plastic better.

Thanks again Frank. I’ll see if I can stop by radio shack today and pick some up. I’ll let you know.

Beside the fish food I won last night at the meeting PBJ!. I also won again with donated frags ::thumbsup::. Once again thank you and very much appreciated to all of you guys…Ken(kaptken), John(houndsbayman), Bill(billrob71), Jim(Downbeach), Jason(beadlocked450r), Mike (Fish Bowl).

The frags are good and well. I finally got them all epoxy and glued to the rocks. I will post pics later since I just got it done and the lights are off.

To DRC and its members. Thank you very much for the help and support. This is the kind of club that I like to participate in and support. Help members when help are needed, give advice when its needed. Without fail we all got each others back. Thanks again DRC and those people who help me.

Well, Murphy came to visit me again this morning. I know it’s St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, but I hate a visit from him. Yes, disaster struck again and this time it will put a hold on this hobby for me for a while. I know what I did to fix the tank when it cracked at the bottom was and maybe not a good idea. Well, one live and learn and learn I did. I will never try to fix a cracked tank again!!!

The tank is now leaking from maybe a bad silicone job or something is not holding the seal due to heavy weight of the rocks and sand. Either way I’m gonna have to get rid of all the corals, fish and clams. I’m not getting out of the hobby, but it will take a long while for me to get a new tank and somehow find a way to get the old tank out of the room.

So, starting from today I need to sell and get rid of all my corals, fish and clams. I will give back the corals that was donated to me to whom ever they belong to Monday at the meeting. If you interested in either the corals, fish or clams you can look at the previous post with pics and let me know what you like or I can maybe gather up pictures of all the animals in the tank that is for sale, but that won’t happen till tomorrow.

I hate to do this, but it has to be done before a bigger disaster strikes!! by the way, price is very much negotiable.

Awwww man A that sucks - sorry to hear. I guess temporarily moving everything in to bins and resealing the tank isn’t an option? Bill is really good at it.

If I can hold on to anything for you unil you get back up and running just let me know. In the mean time I’ll take a look at what can be purchased to get you started towards a replacement tank.
