New 150 GAL tank

i had a diamondback also. when itgot big, it could move half the sand from one side of the tank to the other in a day. burried any corals on the sand. I was always digging things out. . great earth movers.

It’s crazy all the tiny things that just appear. Now I see bigger worms like a inch long kinda fat and look almost like mini blood worms from a bait shop.

Most likely it’s a bristles worms, but it may be other kind as well, the bad kind. Again if it’s bristles worm then they are harmless to me, but others may say the difference.

What are these

sponge

Interesting it reminds me of a spider egg sack. It just showed up I didn’t see it yesterday morning.

I have a couple in my tank was well except they are orange.

Orange that would be cool. All the sponges I have are either white, grey, or that little spider egg looking things. I need some color

Everyday I see something new growing from sponges to worms to now tiny white bug looking things on the glass.

Those are called copopods, they’re good and provide food for fish and inverts.

It’s cool all the tiny little living things in the tank.

Went to Pacific East Aquaculture today. Cool place picked up a Flame Angel and a Firefish.

Yup, that place is a reefer candy store! Wife hates me when ever I go there. Spend too much money.

OK Im not happy with the filtration system for my tank I want to start over. I basically just hooked it up like the guy I bought it from did minus the prot. skimmer that I couldn’t figure out how to get it running.

So my tank has two overflows that both drain into the fist chamber of the sump which is 13 inches long 13 inches wide and water level is around 19 inches deep. This is where 2 prot. Skimmers are located but I cant figure them out. 1heater and Nothing else in there.

There are 2 height adjustable walls that allow the water to spill into the second section it has a top try with small holes and the water drains through the blue plastic bio material this section is 12long by 13 wide with about 8 inches of the blue stuff then another 4 inches of space under it with nothing in it.

Thats the 1st box. Its connected to a second box by a bulkhead connection.
The next box is 13 wide by 20 long. Nothing in there but 2 return pumps and another heater

So I have 13 x 45 box with not alot going on. I cant imagine this is a great use of space.

So Im looking for suggestions. I got a couple of the of the filter socks to put at the end of of the drain hoses to act as a mechanical filter. and Ipicked up a pro. skimmer but for some reason I cant get the bubbles to reach the top so I need to read up more on that

Just my opinion, get rid of those blue bio balls, nothing but a nitrate haven.

yup, and maybe when the bio balls are gone, you can hang a filter sock on the return lines to collect waste. and then clean it often.

Yeah I’ve been reading the bio ball stuff isn’t really that good. What can I put in that area?

Macros algeas or live rock
